Wish list / Possible Improvement for "repair kits"/skill
« on: August 27, 2006, 11:09:20 am »
Hello all,

I really like the changes made which resultated in detoriation of weapons/armor and the implementation of repair skill(s).

While working on my weapon repair skill a few possible improvements came to my mind:

1) I really dislike (for strength reasons and because of realism) that you have to stack repair kits and that after each repair process the whole kit is used up.
I could imagine using the "quality rating" we have and substract repairs from the quality, which means each repair process substracts some points of quality ("repair kit gets used up more and more") from the quality rating. Points repaired could be reduced wehn the quality of the kit drops below certain values. When the kit reaches quality 0, it can no longer be used. Price of one kit should of course be adjusted from 40 trias up to several hundred for example. Hereby different qualities of kits could in the long run also be implemented (like an "expert kit" which looses less quality/repair or repairs more damage in te same amount of time).

2) A time bar for the repair process would be nice (like the casting bar).

3) There are currently still bugs when you repair and fight (repair process becomes endless) or when you restart a repair process after a fight.

What do you think?

I do not mean to be rude but did "babbelfish" translate your signature, because it makes no sense?
Let me know if you need a correct translation and welcome back!

Hello all,

I really like the new Q&A section in the "General Forum" concerning "Setting related questions".

I would really appreciate a Q&A where the developers shortly comment on "Technic related questions/wishes", as this could result in a "Technical FAQ" in the long run and an reduction of repetitive questions. Furthermore it gives us supporters/testers/users a "feeling of being valuable and a feeling of living interaction with the developers".

Furthermore, some general summarization of the "wish list forum" would be cool, as it gives people having ideas and trying to give feedback, some personal feedback and an feeling of "appreciation" for their commitment/dedication. For me this makes up one of the basic factors of a "living community" and strengthens the community in the long run, even if it is more work in the short run.

What do you and what do the developers think?

Hello all, hello developers,
I know that I am bringing up an old topic which has been posted numerous times in a new thread, nevertheless I did not find any "developer"/perspective answers to this topic.

I know that PS uses UDP packets for memory client - server communication.
In my (rather limited) networking experience UDP, is much less forgiving of lost packets than TCP, but is suited for real-time data, like your characters (x,y,z) position, velocity and acceleration, and pending actions (attack, chat, and so on ). Most 3rd person online shooters use UDP as far as I know, but  a lot of MMORPG use TCP (like WoW e.g.)
Currently HTTP tunneling software/services (liek HTTP tunnel) and proxy services (like SocksCap, ProxyCap, FreeProxy and so on) do not support UDP via TCP, as far as I know.

There have been numerous requests/problems with entering the game from behind a router/private/institutional firewall so far related to UDP traffic.

1) Is there any chance of fixing this, like translating the game from UDP to TCP support in the future?
2) Is there any other fix for connecting from behind a firewall I did not think about?
3) The Update server seems to be running via TCP (as tunneling to it works), is this correct?

With this thread I would like to create a summarization of this problem, so that, in the unlikely case  ;D , somebody uses the forum search he will find this topic answered  qualified. Any input would be appreciated!

Without a selected target noting at all happens, with selected target it comes up over the macro menue (where the corrosponding hotkey/button is) almost always. I could probably try setting a hotkey and see what happens then.

/target_context worked!  :D
Thanks a lot, only problem is that the context menu always comes up then over my macro menue, centered would be nicer.

Newbie Help (Start Here) / Hotkey for Inspect/Opening the Description
« on: August 14, 2006, 05:32:08 pm »
Hello all,
Is there a hotkey to inspect an NPC/PC or to open the creature dialoge (where you can choose to sell/buy, inspect, train a.s.o.) and for the "loot dialogue" after a fight?
Its rather hard to do that by mouse with lag.
I would appreciate help if possible.
Thanks
Dante

I do not want to be rude to you as I can understand that experiencing a bug is somewhat \"disastrous\" but would like to politely remind you to use the search button.

There are several threads concerning the same question already open and I think it does demotivate people who want to help/give technical advice and open up every thread to read the same several times.

Same here, update ris basically crashing with the message the initial poster wrote. I could fix it by unzipping the updater.zip but basically something seems to be broken with the updater.

Do you need computer specifications for debugging?

Newbie Help (Start Here) / Translation(s) of Player Guide needed?
« on: January 16, 2005, 01:14:59 pm »
Quite a few people out of the new CB playerbase seem to lack the knowledge to read the english player guide found in the distribution and on the webpage based on a lack of proficiency with the english language.

I talked to Moogie about that a few days ago in game which lead to the idea that a tarnslation of said player guide wouldn`t be the worst to do.

The question is, should we translate the player guide into different languages to at least give those not so fluent in english a chance to read up and cut down \"beginner questions\".

Opinions?

Has anybody started yet to do so? If not I could probably do the german translation and probably in the long run the french one if needed/wanted. Any help would of course be appreciated.

Which other languages are needed? Out of the head I would think Spanish, Italian and Russian.

Opinions?

Greetings
