Here\'s another view of cherppow\'s Pices Gaul.

time limitations don\'t allow me to draw a field of gap sylaks.

By the way, are these your fingers as the Hopar legs?

I still say lemurs.

It doesn\'y mean others can\'t ride the creature, it just means that physically the most common race of riders is adapted for using the animal for riding. i.e. a Kran will probably crush the poor creature.

I believe riding on it requires the rider not to sit stiffly, but to twist with the animal movements, dwarves don\'t fit for that as far as I can see. (OK, I\'ll simply draw it so you\'ll see what I mean).

great art!
(like you, some of my art is not in the same level like the other. Only I never publish works that I think are not good enough)

The items sketches are amazing, and the creatures well done.

On the humans, on the other hand, you have some problems that make them look unrealistic (for some reason when you drew the Golem, you didn\'t have any of those...).

To make faces look more realistic spend more time looking at real human faces. try making caricatures maybe. You\'ll find many details you dodn\'t know about.

Also, it seems you use several styles - from totally realistic (namoii, golem, toirk) to semi cartoon (prickly imp, frungy, granite meek), to manga-like (the two girls).

I tend to beleve cartoon-like creatures won\'t be used in the game (since in 3D they\'s look like toy-story characters). So they can be fun (to draw and watch), but when you draw cartoon-like you can drop the stats.

By the way, the reason I don\'t draw simple objects is that they can easily be found in images search-engines. so they are less needed for visualization.

But they are still good drawings :)

It really might be the right riding animal for Lemurs. (note that it should be quite spectacular in colors to be used by them)

I\'ll probably send here drawing of a Lemur riding on a Lerren sometimes soon.

Great creature satha!

I like that model!

(for flying animation, gather the legs, slightly bent, leaned backwards, towards the tail)

But I think the texture is a bit problematic (legs color doesn\'t fit an insect).

and the stone imp, as I promised:

yes it\'s an original (when it\'s not an original, I mention the inventor). I invented the name \"kaulak\" 3 minutes before I posted it to the forum...

Anyways, Nerocon\'s intuition is going in the right direction, the shell really is turtle-like. On the other hand, the kaulak has some insect-like features. so in order to take off a bit of it\'s tutleness, I would advise on closing the shell on the back, as if the top and pottom part got \"soldered\" together by evolution.

In order to get it more spider like, you\'ll need to get the legs a bit longer, and bet differently, but I guess you knew that. (I think the second pair of legs is longer than the others, the back pair is shorter and the front one shortest. but if making them all the same size makes it easy for rendering speed, go for it.)

The mouth (I thought you could see it in the pic, my bad) is similar to a squid mouth (beak surrounded by a ring-like muscle), see
http://www.columbia.edu/~gp350/gabe/squidbeak.gif

As to the textures, beats me. never thought of colors here. (maybe in the direction of a crab. it lives on the beach after all...)

nice model!

just a few comments about the structure before the texturing starts (these might also help on animating the creature):

1) the eyes (as I see it) are more to the sides of the head (like a fly). the head is a bit elliptic, and the eyeballs seat on it\'s ends. the middle eye sits between them. s oI believe the eyes should be larger and moved a bit to give it the infamous \"insect face\" (eyes on top of the head makes it look less insect-ive).

2) note that the big claws are on the second pair of legs, while the first pair of legs has small claws.
The idea is that the creature attacks and kills with the big claws, while using the hooks for gentle movements, and eating (and also cleaning).
also, I think the claws should be bigger. They should look deadly, and not just unpleasant.

3) The third pair of legs is longer than the others, since they help the creature place itself upon landing.

4) the little black pipe on the bottom part of the head is needed for the sucking attack. (maybe it should be longer than I made it)

By the way, shouldn\'t this part of the discussion move to a different thread, like the \"3d grangalan\" one?

dude!

I like that.
keep up the good work.

By the way, note that the kaulak has round, black insect eyes on the neck (yes, that\'s what it was, these strange black things.), like spider eyes, see

four like a dragonfly.
Everything not especially defined about the grangalan is dragonfly-ish.

By the way people, the place I host these pics will remove them if no one views them for some time. Meaning that if modelers will want to look at these drwaings after the thread is not active for about a month and a half, they won\'t find any pic here...

Do you know of any place where I can put these pics without worrying they might disappear after some time?
(like a pics dedicated place on the planeshift servers?)

oops... sorry karyuu!
(good thing she doesn\'t read this thread  :D )

Zeraph, Here\'s your female klyros (yes, guys, you can comment on proportions, clothes etc. And no, I probably won\'t make better drawings since this one was quite consuming. I don\'t know why I hate drawing humanoids. I guess it gives more room for mistakes.)

As you can see I went on the \"80\'s hair look\" with the spikes. I thought it would look more feminine then small spikes. I based it on the well-known male Klyros face, and used Zeraph\'s legs.

(the situation wasn\'t planned by the way, it just turned out that way)

and the PNG

wait a minute...
Are we sure there is a female klyros?
and if so, can we tell it from the male?

I mean, we can\'t tell a male dog from a female dog (uless looking at the right place)
we can\'t tell a female lizard from a male lizard in most cases (except for several species which are specially colored)
we can\'t tell a male snake from a female one (are there female and male in snakes?)

why should we be able to tell a male klyros from a female Klyros? (I say unisex fits here quite well)

Probably going to model some of these for the game...

yaaay!
(let me know when you get to create one!)

Zeraph: I\'ll try to do the klyros thing, but note that my knowledge of human anatomy (especially female anatomy) is quite weak. you might want to ask karyuu on trying this one, he has a good eye for feminine features.

Adeli: no offense taken (guess I should have put a winking smily there...). When I finished them I thought the gratacs turned out too \"rap-doodle-style\" (too cartoonish, you might say), so your observation is not so far from mine. Criticism is always welcome (no criticism, no improvement).

And how comes everybody likes the Grangalan?
It\'s quite a horrible insect. (while the wajisha is really likable)

But not as horrible as the kaulak:

I gave up drawing moglamoid once I realized it\'s just a huge grasshopper. I created the kaulak instead.

a little kaulak anacdote:
I started drawing it on the bus (the eye and the hands), while doing this I got a bit nauseous (it tends to happen when I read on long rides), so I stopped drawing. since then I can\'t look on the drawing without feeling sick. so for creature stats I would note that this is a disgusting creature.

and an old one: a mahuji

roughkran: The teeth thing is still possible, I think no one of them was drawn with an open mouth...
