To download PlaneShift you must first click the downloads section on the main page. Then you click the sub-link client. Download all 5 parts and reassembler into the same folder. When all 5 parts and the reassembler are done downloading run the the reassembler. This will create an executable file (.exe.) You must run the .exe file to download PlaneShift. After completing the installation you must then run pssetup. Configure PlaneShift to your likings and then exit out. Then run updater. This will download any new files that are missing from your PS directory. Now you are ready to play.

It would be really nice to see something like this implemented in the game. There are plans for something kind of similar in DAoC. Having things like a guild bank would be great.

Yes, the devs have pretty much came out and said that all characters will be wiped after phase (alpha, beta, etc.) This is too delete any characters that are no longer active, because character creation may changed so much that it just won\'t work anymore, and there are probably several other reasons. Welcome the PlaneShift community!

Skain covered it pretty good. If you want to buy anything you have to purchase it from the main PS site. You buy things with crystals that come from the ground.

There seems to be a group of people that are getting a Linkdead messages. At the moment we do not understand why this is occuring. All I can think of at the moment is that there either some sort of firewall or proxy that is not allowing the client to receive messages from the server. I know that it can be fustrating to download it and not have it work but we simply do not have a solution at this point.
That being said, messages like \"It says I\'m Linkdead please tell me what I can do to fix\" will most likely not be answered because we dont have a solution. Also PLEASE do not contact Fragnetics about any errors you get about PlaneShift. Here are some things to check:
Check to make sure that you don\'t have a firewall running
If you have a fire wall make sure that it allows UDP on port 13331 from planeshift.fragnetics.com
Try using the ip addresss 203.81.47.27 instead of the name
Note that this also leads to another problem with bad accounts. This is what happens
a) you upload your character
b) the server gets this message and creates the account for it
c) the server sends a message back
d) the client gets this message
e) the client sends the player create information
f) the server creates the player
Now what I see is happening is that step (d) is failing so the server cannot send a message to your client for some reason (unknown at this point, works for many others ). Now because of this you have an account and not a player. This means that the server is in a Bad State (tm) with regards to your character. So you have an account but no player. That is why it says error with your account. You either need to a) ask to have that account deleted so you can try to recreate it or b) try a different character name.
Again if you have a linkdead problem try reading the above notes and try a few times. If you keep getting Linkdead then try a few times. If it still does not work then there isn\'t really much we can do to help so posting it is not valuable. If, however, you found a solution that does work PLEASE post it, but if you just repeat the same error over and over again it is not productive.
There may be one other fix, what OS are you running?

I\'m not sure what to do. I\'d just make sure you\'ve configured PS to your computer and run the uploader for any files you may be missing. Just give it a couple minutes and if it doesn\'t load, leave another post.
