I am getting between 2 and 7 KB/s on a dsl connection that normally dl\'s at 180+ KB/s.

Ah, feels like the good ol\' days of dialup  :)

Edit:  AUGHHH!  I just came back to check the updater....
I am on trepor.cal3d  supposedly a 2kb file and supposedly downloading at 6kb/s...and it is goin on over two minutes to get this thing.   4 seconds to get 1% point on the download.

Err.. how do I post again? ... Oh!

Regarding the very very slow update using the fix, I just experienced the same thing. As I experiment I changed it back to the original server. It seems to he going much faster now. Maybe the addresses were swapped?

EDIT: I used the \"Downloading Registry\" to check the speed.

You certainly won\'t starve if you mind platinum, but my old information tells me that getting it in the first place is killer for most people.

Something that might be feasible:
-A medium cost light weight crystal which points the way out of the area you are currently in.
-A low cost light weight crystal which points the direction of the town it was bought in.

Something un-feasible:
-Similar to the SNES game EARTHBOUND, a take me home sign, after placing it down for about half a minute, a merchant will come by and offer to lead you back to the last town you were in (will charge you)

The crystal which points the way out might actually be very difficult to make due to the fact that one can\'t tell which way is out? Maybe there can be a designated exit direction in which case the way to the surface is always correct? I think I\'m loosing myself...

That\'s what experimentation is for. Assuming you ever find a combination that is.

EDIT: oops forgot to make a relation, advisors are just volunteers, if every advisor was dead serious then they might even shout at your for not trying before asking... Least this is what\'s crossing my mind.

You make a great \"villan\" character :)

Though on the same terms I\'ll probably never look to group with you.. so I say now.

Otherwise, nice drawing :)

Just run the updater alone.. without anything else running.

Poncho, this is just my personal theory, but for me every time I logon and find myself near combat.. I tend to crash, as if the chat filter isn\'t ready for combat...
Maybe you can try to avoid incombat areas when you quit.

Can\'t have \'run\' and \'forward\' on the same key?

Check your cal3d and CS installations... was the LD_LIBRARY_PATH set?

How was it installed? Was it installed from CVS or maybe the Unofficial binaries? Maybe a script?

Please try the search button.
The solution should be something similar to creating a shortcut containing

\"C:\\Program Files\\Planeshift\\updater.exe\" --auto

I think I can break rule 3 in a heart beat...

My drawing style hasn\'t changed much since grade 2. which is the same as it was in grade 1...

Some people simply can\'t draw :P

Most generic advice, if you can think of something more generic just try!

When bored, SLEEP! (I really did do this when I was younger, it\'s still part of my behaviour.)

Knoppx is a nice portable distro, but I recommend you try PCLinuxOS also which is another portable linux distro. (seems to be hosted at pclinuxonline.com)

By the way... how do you do a stage 3 install? I wanted a stage 2 install and did a stage 1 instead by accident while reading the guide...

If the developers wanted ideas IRC would probably give a quicker response then a forum post.

At the moment it is probably more enjoyable for them to do what they feel like rather then needing to conform to the mass forum public which may or may not be a good thing.
