General Discussion / Just Wanted to know...

Ok ive been around since Planeshift MB but unfortunately i was not able to continue playing because i do not have the patience for new-beta games because of the constant bugs that keep you from playing, and also my PC sucked... now i got a GOOD pc and i was wondering how Planeshift has progressed?  Is it worth the download now?  How about the NPC interactions?  Are they more stable now?  Before i could barely interact, has that changed?

Ok the weird just got weirder.

Firstly, i check for new updates daily so im fine there but heres the odd thing, the screen went black again when i ran it after my last post so heres the weird part, i opened a folder in the background and ran it yet again and i worked fine, i logged out and closed the folder and it went black when i tried to run it.  All my trials were like this and its really strange.

ok oddly enough its working now.  I didnt change a thing though.  It just started working again... weird.

I start the game and everything runs smoothly and i select my character and while the game is loading it just makes a windows error sound and everything goes black.  I have to alt + tab my way out.  Ive toyed with the setup options and have sound turned off.  Ive updated the game and i dont see why its not working anymore.  I always used to run it fine.  I just think its odd because its not really a crash because it doesnt go back to the desktop its more of the game just totally graphically collapsing.  No screen whatsoever.

I was just wondering how i can play when theres linkdead every now and then... i havent played much but the server seems a little unreliable because of all the work they do on it.  My question is:  Is linkdead more prominent now because of all the server work they do or has it always been like this?

Here is an odd series of events

1. Im leaving the arena and i crash

2. I relogged and i plummet THROUGH the ground to my death

3. I wouldnt respawn so i relogged once again and was in Hydlaa

4. While in Hydlaa i noticed my DWARF was massive and everyone else was small.

5.  Someone told me to try jumping and i did and off i go into outer space

6.  I didnt know how to get down so i logged off again and relogged but i didnt fall down... i stayed stuck up there.  Oddest thing is all the graphics were screwed up, half the screen was the planeshift title logo and the other half was the game... weird.

Im gonna log one more time and hope that i fall down... if not then HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP!!!!

Okay i think i see what the problem is.  Its not a lag its my computer i think.  I get choppiness in areas that are dense with graphics such as the starting point of the game (the city).  But when i entered that spikey looking building everything flowed smoothly.  This is the same \"behaviour\" as when a system does not meet the specified requirements for a game.  HOWEVER i have had players on this game tell me their system is inferior to mine and yet they do not experience this choppiness.  I have tried turning off sound and music with no result.  I am simply baffled by this.  My internet connection is incredibly fast so i cant see the problem.  I have just upgraded my Nvidia drivers and my direct X from version 9.0b to 9.0c.  

My Direct X diagnostic reports that everything is in working order and i have no spy or adware on my PC as i have 5 different programs to remove such things.  If anyone has experienced a similar problem please inform me.

I updated my drivers a while ago, ill do it again and retry.  As for graphical lag, this seems to be permanent.  It wont go away, i dont played for 20 min under these conditions.  I ran the updater as well, and im not sure what CB is.

Okay this is weird.  When i run Planeshift i get these three error messages.

\"Warning: Failed to load \'csddsimg\' ; use \'-verbose\' argument for details.\"

\"Warning: Failed to load \'csjngimg\' ; use \'-verbose\' argument for details.\"

\"Warning: Failed to load \'cssgiimg\' ; use \'-verbose\' argument for details.\"

The thing is the game works afterwards.  Its really slow however and i have no idea why, ppl out there have told me that my PC is better then theirs but they are running smoothly.  

I have a:

AMD Duron 1200+
64mb Geforce 4
384 Ram
Direct X 9.0b
16 Gig space

The game is extremely choppy and unplayable.  I dont know if the error messages have anything to do with it or not.  I have tried both window and fullscreen settings and both are slow but window is even slower.  I have tried all Resolutions and bit depth combos and its still slow.  I dont know whats wrong.  I have a High Speed Sympatico Connection, 10Mbps DSL.  This seems to be quite an impressive game and i would hate for a stupid problem like this to ruin it.
