The Hydlaa Plaza / Troika games is no more

It\'s a really bad news for all RPG lovers.

the studio formed by Fallout creators and wich released the hit Arcanum has closed its doors.

Black Isle and Interplay were dead (didn\'t like the AD&D games after fallout but Planescape :Torment which was sooo great), now Troika games. Is there any company left that can make a great RPG ?
But it\'s like people don\'t care that much about classical RPG nowdays. they all want MMORPG, they all want 3D and finally they all want real-time combat.

Well, right now I\'ll be waiting for Fallout 3 (Bethesda has the right to make 3 sequels). But IMO Troika was the only one that could make such game.
Why ? because I think bethesda will do what the mass market wants (read above) and it\'s not what I want for fallout 3.

Maybe I\'m just an old-school fanatic but hell, old games were so much better.

In fact this bug is not only for strength but for the 6 basic skills : strength, endurance, agility, intelligence, will and charisma.

Since all other skills are working, I didn\'t report this because I thought this was done on purpose ^^\"

I lost something like 3 points in charisma and 2 in strength, but well since there\'ll be a database wipe I don\'t care that much.

Well, it\'s like the updater problems will never end.
I just updated my PS installation and there was no problem, right now I can enter the game.

But I tried to re-run the updater a few minutes after and the updater crashed, Windows asking me to send a report to Microsoft.
I couldn\'t see any error message from the updater itself.
I restart my computer, re-run the updater a couple of times but it\'s always crashing...

But well at least we\'ll be able to play this WE. :)

Because it\'s an international way to express emotions, feelings...

And if it\'s not allowed, why not try to list some common smiley and their english description ?

Hello,

I\'ve an up-to-date planeshift client at the time of writing.
I have no progression points but the client (on windows) shows 23 progression points (under fatigue bar I think) .
If I try to train, it\'ll say in the chat window that I don\'t have progression points (which is normal).

I think that it\'s a good thing to make people walk instead of spawning to cover long distance. After all, spawning is against role playing...

But it\'s inappropriate at this time because there are lots of places where you can get stuck (I got stuck several times in the grass :D)

I think that GM as other things to do than helping all stuck people

And by the way, it\'s something helpful for some other bugs.

So I think they should remove /spawn only when the game will be more stable

First, I\'ll choose my side : freedom for both firstname and lastname, but I know this will never happen...

Don\'t tell me it\'s impossible to implement something like that in Planeshift because that\'s false. In fact it\'s almost possible to do so.
Planeshift users aren\'t only qualified by their character name but also by a user account name (email address). So, if we enforce the user to create is 4 characters with different name, we\'ll always have a unique qualifier email_address:character_name.

/say is no more a problem, use the email adress instead of the name to qualified the recipient (we don\'t have to use the full qualifier since we have only one connection at any time for a given account)

BUT drawbacks of this implementation make it worse than what it was supposed to solve.

using email in /say is not really \"Role Playing\" complient

email are longer to type than most names

you cannot do fun things like creating an evil char to do bad things and a good char to help others while keeping others to know that they are played by the same player since the qualifier would be the same email address for both characters.

MOST IMPORTANT, it\'ll take a long time to develop the new system and planeshift\'s developers sure have better things to do (like allowing us to open the door :p)

We are left with the possibility of allowing anymone to choose whatever name they want to but for sure communication will turn into nightmare.

Conclusion, the existing solution is not perfect but it\'s better than my solution (it\'ll be even better if lastname musn\'t be unique, so I hope this is really a bug)

By the way can we choose the same name as Planeshift NPC or are their names reserved ?

Never turn on Vertex Buffer Object in the Advanced options section of pssetup.
Don\'t know what this was supposed to do but when \"on\" it crashes more often for me.
( GC: ATI Radeon 9600XT - Driver: Catalyst 4.12 without CC)
