the local host is your own pc, this is in case you run a ps server localy, this is only for devs.

IE: Don\'t try this unless you have a HIGH HIGH HIGH performance PC. No seriously, thats only for high performance or people will a server sitting in the next room.

Erm, no? Granted, if running the server on the same machine, it needs more processor power, but the lag is graphical, so it\'d not be that bad AFAICS.
Furthermore, if you use another machine, like in the next room, it\'d not be localhost anymore, and thus wouldn\'t work. :)

Even with 100 players the server takes about 1% cpu time maximum. The only issue is memory usage as the client uses a lot of memory and so does the server. But don\'t worry about cpu processing.

So if I am on a LAN, then I can set up my own PS server and make people join...!?
Adding more items is a great way to make the game last longer! :)

Technically you can. The license doesn\'t allow it though.

You\'d need to make your own art (maps, music, models, etc.) and your own content (NPCs, dialogues, quests, stats, etc.), and everything else which is covered by the PlaneShift License. Then sure you could set up your own server. :)

Even though the license does not allow for an open LAN game, the opportunity to setup up a server on a LAN does exists for the benefeit of community programmers to test out their modifications before submitting them to the main developers.
