this is wear the aspect of different armors come in. Different shapes, different colors, different types, they provide the same effect, but they are acctually more or less required in the game. Or were you assuming there was no armor ?(

This was brought up one time, it wouldn\'t be too bad on the programmers, but would require tons of work by the 3d team, work that could probably be used better elsewhere. But who knows, in time this could be implemented.

I think this comes up in every RPG/MMORPG, you see, you have to decide whether you play a game for gameplay, or if you play it for roleplay. I think the latter is far more popular, and even though this is intended to be a roleplaying game, i don\'t think it would be entirely wise to force players to speak only one language. Imagine you are new, your friend introduced you to this game, he/she has playing for a while now, but you cannot talk to him/her ingame because of the language problem. You could put in the option of choosing what language you speak, depending on your knowledge (you would learn new ones as you travelled and did quests and such) But there should be one language everyone understands so that communication is available. But these are just my opinions.

Dude i said in my personal preference. And PS is not a team of \"Elites\". I have talked to them my self and they say the sit inside coding or drawing for fun. its not a real \"job\" though the do have extreme talent :O


Just because someone does something for fun doesn\'t mean they aren\'t elite. Albiet, not all of us fall into what i would consider the \"elite\' category, but many do. Talad is an elite leader, Paxx is elite in rules, the entire coding team is pretty damned elite, and so is Boonet. The rest of us just don\'t have the experience they do, but i feel we are all pretty good at what we do, or in the case of some the 3+ departments they work in. And i think under the given circumstances the team could be considered elite as a whole. Something like 15 people spread across the world all working very long for free and acctually producing something of quality is not an easy task. In short, individually not all of us are elite, but as a team (which is far more important than individuality) we are.

Yes, we are infact making much progress, but the person in charge of updating (Talad) is about the busiest person i have ever met. And to take on a second person just to update the site is unecessary  :D

also, Planeshift will not become Pay to Play, its main gimmick is that it is free

The whole aspect of keeping planeshift free is already more or less figured out, we don\'t need to display ads, planeshift can acctually pay for itself, but I\'m not going to go into details. Planeshift is and always will be free, it is not a huge concern. I does not require attention from the players either.

Just a little helpful advice, Vengeance knows what he is doing...arguing with him has about as much usefulness as trying to mate a tree with a cat. The point is, is that that was not impressive at all, I don\'t think 4 lines of code can even be considered a submission

The progression system is very complex and difficult to understand without some guidance, but it wouldnt be prudent of me to post exactly what happens, but yes, you do get experience from various things like killing monsters and doing quests, death still has yet to be figured out.

Tomaseth is refering to the 10th Coldain Ring War where the giants rush Thurgadin in great divide. I was in a quite a few of these, and if i remeber correctly the giants come in waves of 30, with about something like 10 waves. This was pretty hard, but no where near impossible. Depending on the skill of the people involved and the gear, you can do it with as few as 18. Anyway, the problem with having gobs and gobs of monsters is lag. If there are gobs and gobs of monsters, then probabilty is that you would need gobs and gobs of people there too. Imagine about 50 rendered monsters, and another 50 people all in one area, they are also performing actions which would mean animations and particles, 100 objects all animated and some with spell particles would equate to lots of lag. And it could be questioned as to whether the server could even handle that.

.jpgs can be smaller than .gif\'s, plus jpeg format has more colors than gif, and sigrealm.com isnt accepting any more accounts

Rules, as in the department that decides how everything works, its alot harder than just stating \"You can\'t cast a new spell for 3 seconds\"

Also, it is a given that you acctually have to have the knowledge to be in a department, but when someone is taken in we have to train him to do things in the PS manner
