I agree with Syilph and others .. crying for a wipe won\'t solve the problem that some people use unbalanced behaviours or bugs to get money.

But this game is not only related to trias!!!!

You may have millions of trias .. that won\'t help you much on increasing any stat without the propper amount of progres points.

Don\'t get me wrong .. I\'m anyway not happy about the unballanced system sometimes but I will not cry for a wipe. Because it took me a long hard run to build up my player, do all that quests, get all those glyphs, skill up magic ways etc. which is sad to do taht all again. and there are other points more related as just being able to buy better swords as well as a real role player is happy if he can kill an Ulbernaut by his own instead of being a Ulberheart of someone else.

Anyhow I took some time to look at the real market price of gold 600$/ounze and platinum 1100$/ounze.

So addapting that to PS ($ != trias) we maybe use 60 trias for 1 gold ore and 100 trias for one platinum ore. I think that is a fair price (instead of 8 trias)

So I got the following changes:

.. anyone with DB server acces might do ..

SELECT stat_type, name, weight, base_sale_price, item_type FROM item_stats WHERE name LIKE \'%ore%\' OR name LIKE \'%bare%\' OR name LIKE \'%ingot%\';

to get all the related lines .. and change them alike

UPDATE item_stats SET base_sale_price=\'10.0\' WHERE stat_type=\'B\' AND name=\'Iron Ore\';
UPDATE item_stats SET base_sale_price=\'15.0\' WHERE stat_type=\'B\' AND name=\'Coper Ore\';
UPDATE item_stats SET base_sale_price=\'20.0\' WHERE stat_type=\'B\' AND name=\'Silver Ore\';
UPDATE item_stats SET base_sale_price=\'60.0\' WHERE stat_type=\'B\' AND name=\'Gold Ore\';
UPDATE item_stats SET base_sale_price=\'100.0\' WHERE stat_type=\'B\' AND name=\'Platinum Ore\';

so simple melting of 8 ores (short), 10 ores and 12 ores (long) will rise the price of around 10% wich is nice but not as extreme than it is now and still fair because you don\'t need any skill to melt them.

UPDATE item_stats SET base_sale_price=\'88.0\' WHERE stat_type=\'B\' AND name=\'Short Iron Bar\';
UPDATE item_stats SET base_sale_price=\'132.0\' WHERE stat_type=\'B\' AND name=\'Short Coper Bar\';
UPDATE item_stats SET base_sale_price=\'176.0\' WHERE stat_type=\'B\' AND name=\'Short Silver Bar\';
UPDATE item_stats SET base_sale_price=\'528.0\' WHERE stat_type=\'B\' AND name=\'Short Gold Bar\';
UPDATE item_stats SET base_sale_price=\'880.0\' WHERE stat_type=\'B\' AND name=\'Short Platinum Bar\';
UPDATE item_stats SET base_sale_price=\'110.0\' WHERE stat_type=\'B\' AND name=\'Iron Bar\';
UPDATE item_stats SET base_sale_price=\'165.0\' WHERE stat_type=\'B\' AND name=\'Coper Bar\';
UPDATE item_stats SET base_sale_price=\'220.0\' WHERE stat_type=\'B\' AND name=\'Silver Bar\';
UPDATE item_stats SET base_sale_price=\'660.0\' WHERE stat_type=\'B\' AND name=\'Gold Bar\';
UPDATE item_stats SET base_sale_price=\'1100.0\' WHERE stat_type=\'B\' AND name=\'Platinum Bar\';
UPDATE item_stats SET base_sale_price=\'132.0\' WHERE stat_type=\'B\' AND name=\'Long Iron Bar\';
UPDATE item_stats SET base_sale_price=\'198.0\' WHERE stat_type=\'B\' AND name=\'Long Coper Bar\';
UPDATE item_stats SET base_sale_price=\'264.0\' WHERE stat_type=\'B\' AND name=\'Long Silver Bar\';
UPDATE item_stats SET base_sale_price=\'792.0\' WHERE stat_type=\'B\' AND name=\'Long Gold Bar\';
UPDATE item_stats SET base_sale_price=\'1320.0\' WHERE stat_type=\'B\' AND name=\'Long Platinum Bar\';

then 10 crafted ores melted and hammered will give a wrought ingot with price rise of around 40%

UPDATE item_stats SET base_sale_price=\'154.0\' WHERE stat_type=\'B\' AND name=\'Wrought Iron Ingot\';
UPDATE item_stats SET base_sale_price=\'231.0\' WHERE stat_type=\'B\' AND name=\'Wrought Coper Ingot\';
UPDATE item_stats SET base_sale_price=\'308.0\' WHERE stat_type=\'B\' AND name=\'Wrought Silver Ingot\';
UPDATE item_stats SET base_sale_price=\'924.0\' WHERE stat_type=\'B\' AND name=\'Wrought Gold Ingot\';
UPDATE item_stats SET base_sale_price=\'1540.0\' WHERE stat_type=\'B\' AND name=\'Wrought Platinum Ingot\';

so a \'Iron Ingot\' is still less worth than a good sword (200 trias) as well as a single ore like platinum is not as high as a crafted item like a sword, but all items are worth enough to dig them ..

I know that balancing is something which is ment to be done anytime later in game .. but to pull those lines on the MySQL server will only takes a couple of minutes and might stop some people crying around :)

you still even CAN change you Character on creation in fact of what you choose from the list ..

Anyway .. I think even if there might be a random chage .. this change shoudl be small .. like the difference of 2-5 at some skill .. and even NOT on skills like sword or cooking skill .. cause you don\'t wake up an be a trained fighter or cook .. but you may be born as a strength one or with full of magic ..

yes .. till NOW they are not such generic .. but as soon as this game grows this get a problem .. mabe think about the new city Ojaveda .. there are no special roofs .. or a citty in the trees build of trees .. trees to complex to describe this or that tree .. i don\'t want to plague each door with a sign nor will throw signs after rookys .. not sooo much .. but a bit more signs for beginners would help things out ..

.. and even the first city have to be more nooby then the others .. as more far from home someon is .. the difficultier it should be .. maybe .. if later on each race has its own town .. maybe you could make some signs invisible to a race .. so that the hometown is full of signs for one of that city and a foreign town seems to be without any sign, which represents that you know your hometown a bit better than others ..

so this might worship role playing .. cause someone of a foreign city have to talk to the town people which than can tell the one where to go .. so you have to get in touch with other people to find your way ...

maybe an option :-)

that sound good for me .. the skill book which give the theoretical starting point which shoudl be then shaped by practicing ..

the knife making .. mhh maybe like the practicing points .. which give a blue line the more we have .. but only the practice points of books related to one skill only and not to all skills .. maybe possible to implement ?

maybe in combination with reading books ? .. that you can write some part of a book down in a pergament and using it like a scroll as if you were trained ??

maps and signs don\'t bother role playing .. the fact is .. if i tell someone \"go to the north tower to meet xxx\" then everybody ask .. \"where is the north tower ?\" .. \"where is north ?\" .. role playing should not the part of spending 100 hours of telling rookys where something is, or even went there with them in fact that are no signs ..

I am happy that some guys showed me the right way to some places and I showed some others what I know .. but sometimes it would be helpfull to even give a hint with a sign like a sign for a street name or a sign pointing to well knon places like the north gate .. even if you have your way through the rest of the city it would help a bit ..

I agree with the always available automap function will kill the map skill .. but even in real live you have signs to show even where the railway station or the city hall is!

maybe what\'s with a infopoint next to the spawn point with a little city map .. a map which could not be draged but something like an overview like tha map in the library to sho \"you are here, this is the approximate overview of the city\" than you have even to interpret it by yourself and manage your way through the city (was the tavern left to that or rigth to that street ...) ..

one point about that also .. at that info point there could be also shown the name of the city .. it took me a long time to find out if I finaly was in Ojaveda or if I have to find another way to another City .. so if you head up in a city .. the first way is up to look for the info point .. which might also be a good meeting place

just my 2 triads :-)

hmm .. sounds good :-)

but even in real world you can learn from books .. maybe a book about C++ Programming .. you can learn from ..

maybe you can get a book from the library for a short amount of time .. then it magicaly respawns .. the books are used to learn an initial skill which have to be trained afterwards .. as like it is in the real world also .. as like you get progress points for a special skill cause this progress points are need to be trained by a trainer of some kind ..

filling the books with a lot of text might be simpler by using text block templates .. or even something out of the faq ..

nice point .. some folks don\'t even read the faq about magic, skill leveling etc. .. and this folk could be send to the library (cause i see a lot people asking,m where are the rats, where can i buy that, how do i do ... ) .. all yo can do is point out to the library :-)

even if you can learn from books i dont think all people sit in circels around to read one book after another ... moste people of this genre of game like hunting monsters .. not sitting around reading books .. so the problem of waiting in line to get the book to read isn\'t realy given ..

the point about the language .. maybe you havent use crazy symbols .. mix up only the chars of the words .. and as more practice you have in reading an language as less is the mixing value .. so you can gues some simple and short words. This way you also deal with different real languages (maybe sometimes this game is translated in german or french ?) and you havn\'t to recode that, cause a mixing-word-cahr function will always do its job in 5-8 line of code ;-)
