if you are interested in more details on development you can visit the cvs section on sf.net and read all the descriptions of changes on planeshift server and client.

first of all you need a correctly set up mysql database. the second problem are the graphics and sounds, which are not released under the GPL i suppose.

FreeBSD release looks strange because in my mind freeBSD is for server use...

Platyna... I guess you had permission issues under freeBSD to compile  PS  :D ... personaly my PS/2 mouse wasnt recognized under freeBSD -> no installation possible... but i know the permission under freeBSD are... amazingly paranoiac

freebsd can be used on workstations, too. the new 5.x releases are very good for normal users. the point is, that freebsd doesnt use the gnu compiler so some  code might not work even with the elf linux compatible layer.
has someone tried to compile PS on freebsd?

PS: i prefer the bsd licence to GPL

my windows is on the slave harddisk .. to manage this you have to map the disks within grub e.g.

title Windows XP
map (hd1) (hd0)
map (hd0) (hd1)
rootnoverify (hd1,0)
makeactive
chainloader +1
boot
