Xillix: Sorry, didn't mean to sound unappreciative.  :-[   I'm loving the amount of effort the settings team is putting in. Just server instability + quests = immense amounts of frustration when you don't know if you're just daft and can't get the phrase, or the quest is now stuffed for you.

Oh, and to whoever is responsible for the /intro system (if not settings), I at least am of the opinion it'll be cool once the bugs are found and squished.   ;)

Forum and Website Discussions / Re: Where do I find stickies??
« on: March 05, 2008, 04:46:56 am »
If you go into any forum, eg. Forum Issues, and scroll to the bottom of the page, there are all the little icons for the various topics (or threads), Hot topic, Sticky topic, Topic you've posted in, etc.

You'll notice that the Sticky Topics icon has some shading, and will always be at the top of the forum.

Also good is the Help Page, which is linked in the Menu Bar (along with Home, Search, ...)

After bemusedly listening to the drama-trolls in #planeshift (you know who you are. If you are instantly complaining at full volume about any new feature that isn't quite working yet, I'm thinking of you.), I thought I'd say thanks to the devs, especially the art department and engine department who have delivered expanded maps, and a smoother experience. (Settings, well, lotsa broken quests  ;) thanks for the thought anyhow)

I like the concept of the introduction system. I think it's a great idea that will in time foster better roleplay.

At the moment, it doesn't work. I don't particularly care. I know that the settings team have a long long list of problem with the introduction system, in six months, they'll be sorted. *shrug* And by then the gullible lemmings will be squeaking madly about something else.

Anyhow, thanks for the release, thanks for the new features, and thanks-in-advance for fixing the new features   ::)

General Discussion / Re: Area Expansion Poll

I'm all for breaking up the linear monotony of travelling between Hydlaa and BD/Oja. There are some things to be found off the beaten track to be sure, but a few more wouldn't hurt.

My reading of "Small Villages" was taken to include more oddities along the way cf. the Ruins, NPCs stashed away. Farming lands (and associated villages), taverns to shelter weary travellers (with appropriate fortifications against attacking Bandits, Cutthroats, monsters - am sure the artists could have terrific fun creating a fortified tavern!), even a few loony religious types who feel that Sharven has become far too liberal, drifted from the true path, and have set up communes in the wilderness to demonstrate their true devotion  ::)

General Discussion / Download page links to .19 still
« on: November 07, 2007, 09:09:33 am »
Just a FYI for whoever's in charge of the http://www.planeshift.it/download.html page, the first direct link for the windows client (through Internode) is still linking to the .19 release (ie. here)

I didn't look closely enough  :-\

Am now grabbing the .exe via the torrent  ;)

My diagram? *checks up a few posts* Oh,  ::)

Have been dealing with teenagers recently, can revise my statement that "not all fifteen-year-olds are instant-gratification-seeking hack'n'slashers" to output "true" p < 0.05 for a chi-square test. Definitely statistically significant.

Yeah, someone shouldn't let me near my computer before I've (a) woken up (b) had some tea   ;)

Technical Help: Problems BEFORE entering the game / Re: Linguage Error
« on: October 10, 2007, 01:02:15 am »
Give us more to work with.

If it's a fresh .19 install, then no updating is required. If you're updating from a previous version, then check this thread

Post system stats, error messages, etc.

PS. Does that icon on the desktop say "Cheat Engine"?  ???

we still have levels, even if they are not really mentioned IC

Um, whaaa...?? Explain please? (I realise that this is driting  :offtopic:, but I'm really curious to know how I've missed the levels in PS over the last few years  :-\)

Edit: Follow-up, are you possibly referring to the Ranking system for skills and stats?

leveless? whoa...big change then...

PS has always been levelless (you're not a Lvl 4 Ranger, Lvl 42 Paladin, whatever).

The history log is always available in the cvs. You just need to know what the hell they're talking about  ;D

Posting under the name Coneitic, attributed a quote to the same name, you will accept it provides possibility for confusion.

You have your opinions, you are welcome to them. I don't see how they changed through the thread, it seems pretty consistent "it'd be better with money". However, you have your wish. I will no longer bother to read or reply to your posts :) Hope you continue to enjoy contributing to the evolution of a game

Oops, fair point :) Though I'm sure after munching some of those Lake Mushrooms I saw Laanx explaining his/her transgenderism ;)

i cant stand when someone uses a thread as a chance to brown nose the devs. and try to sneak in a bunch of good words about the game instead of responding directly to the points made.

And the rest of us can't stand it when a dead horse is being flogged onto the third page when the reasoning behind the desire to remain ad-free (money not required, non-profit organisation and paying developers is a no-no, that several of the developers, game masters and moderators have all said no) have been clearly and carefully stated. Over and over. The philosophy behind the structure of the development has been debated (over and over) in many threads. It's the way it is because that's the way it is. Introducing a commercial element or a initiative-based pay scheme (as you suggested here) goes against the philosophy of AB and PS.

And just going off here, you're missing the freaking point. This is not a commercial venture, read the license and the reasoning behind it.

Oh, and I disagree with your sig. Trias are in no way all there is.
