Newbie Help (Start Here) / Re: Selling Creature Bits?
« on: July 17, 2006, 06:30:23 am »
Make sure you are matching up category to category.

Most bits, save the skins, are classified under the category "animal parts" I believe.  The skins are now classified as "hides". You will have to find merchants that buy/sell those types of categories.

Hi thanks for the tip.

Even though I didn't ask the original question, your response certainly went part way to answering the question that I do have.

I have been trying to locate a seller for these items, rat hides, tails etc, by asking for advice 'in game' from other players.

To date the only information that I have recieved is that the only vendor is in Oja.

I haven't found Oja yet, (but I will), as it has moved since I last played which was quite some time ago.

Can you or anybody else perhaps confirm whether there is a vendor in Hydlaa. I don't want their name or location, just confirmation of their exitstence or non exitstence, and I'll find them myself.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers/

Forum and Website Discussions / Theme for Linux Forum.
« on: January 28, 2006, 01:50:28 am »
This is a forum related question regarding the \'Linux\', section.

I just wonder why the theme for the Linux section, is different from all other parts of the forum.

This may seem a trivial and insignificant question, and indeed it isn\'t all that important from a functionality or technical viewpoint.

It just seems however that \'Linux\', is not quite \'in\' with the rest of the community.

Cheers.

Linux Specific Issues / Just out of curiosity.

Is there any particular explanation for the increasing frequency of these dropouts.

I have noticed that there are quite a few changes occuring in the game at the moment, which is most likely part, if not all of it.

PS development seems to be happening rapidly at the moment, little wonder there are some \'teething problems\'.

Also the next client update correct me if I am wrong will be built against 3.4 not 3.3.

Keep up the good work.

Cheers.

Hi all,

My mining skill is currently 8, and in the same time period it took me to dig 50 diamonds another character dug 65 diamonds beginning at skill level 2, and ranking up to 3 in the process.

Not only that I dug my lot in a single session, while the other person needed to leave the dungeon after having dug around 40 and then returned to dig for a second session.

My question then is this. How is it possible for someone with a much lower mining skill to be able to mine at a considerably faster rate?

In real time the whole process took about an hour and a half.

Cheers.

Linux Specific Issues / It's been a while

Hi all,

In regards to my earlier posts concerning the R4 patch.

Not sure why this occured but a number of attempts to download the packages, I only got two files in the archive.

Within less than a day of my previous post I got all three files and have been up and running.

I am a little befuddled as to what happened,  nevermind all fixed now.

Thankyou Xordan, for you efforts in providing updates for Linux, and sorry for not having got back to you sooner.

Cheers.

Linux Specific Issues / R4 patch - segfaults.
« on: December 01, 2005, 10:09:45 am »
Hi,

I have downloaded the R4 \'patch\', which provides updater.bin and psclient.bin.

The updater seems to run fine.

When attempting to run the client (via gui), nothing appears to happen.

./psclient from within a terminal provides a single line error output

:~$ cd planeshift/
:~/planeshift$ ./psclient
Segmentation fault

Ubuntu Dapper Drake (6.04)
gcc 4.02-1
glibc 2.3.5-1 (libc6)

Linux Specific Issues / Re: *.exe

Windows uses .exe to denote an \'exe\'cutable file.

Running the Planeshift updater should solve your problem

I am unable to be more helpful sorry, but I can say that your operating system is not Linux.

Technical Help: Problems BEFORE entering the game / For Windows . . .
« on: November 30, 2005, 02:48:43 am »
All I believe is required is that you run the updater.

At this stage the latest client is not available as a Linux binary, perhaps even MAC, (not sure about this).

As a Windows user, run the updater you should be fine.

Cheers.

Linux Specific Issues / Thankyou.

I would certainly appreciate it, as no doubt would others in the same situation as myself.

I am not totally unfamiliar with the command line, and am even capable of writing simple bash scripts, so not a deadset Linux newbie, just not a programmer.

Linux Specific Issues / It need to be said.

The assumption here is that as Linux user, you know how to access CVS.

I for one am not a programmer, and can make no sense of CVS at all.

If a source tarball was available that I am capable of using, otherwise I\'ll just have to wait.

Needless to say I am slightly dissappointed.

I can appreciate that the game is still under development and hence, unstable and buggy at times.

My question though is this, how is that any practice points gained in a session are lost with each crash, yet if you level up and the server crashes this is not lost.

It may well be a know \'bug\', and I gather not a high priority one at that.

If anyone is able to shed some light on the topic it would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

Is there any of these in english?

Here is a link to the same page using the Google translation service. For some reason not everything is translated into English.

The maps of course are not translated as they have been published as PDFs.

Also while you are there pay a visit to the forum, the presentation and layout is very nice.

Please don\'t ask me where, but I found a post from Moogie, stating that the library map is inaccurate, while conducting my own forum search for maps.

Cheers.
