A Search engine, in my case.

This friend of mine has just recently turned to MMORPGs and was curious to know what was on the Net that was free. We both got together and spent a whole night just looking through search engines and such, and taking sneak peeks at several more promising games.

Both he and I ended up creating characters for PS, but while I am here to stay (for the time being, at least), he seems to be on the verge of dropping his character here and instead going for Project Entropia with his heart and soul. I can\'t say I blame him. If I had a credit card (which I don\'t have, and if you find that strange, don\'t; it\'s not all *that* uncommon over here) I might now be over at Project entropia instead of here.

It just looks *so* nifty  8)

But alas, you guys are stuck with me  :P

Ah, this is something else that was confusing me and that I had meant to bring up and forgot: the apparent lack of an IC vs OOC channel for chatter (to which I\'m used and much addicted elsewhere).

English is not my native language, so please excuse me but I found your explanation just a teeny bit confusing. So you guys use brackets for OOC and normal chat for IC, is that it?

If so, how do you tell apart IC stuff from some random OOC chatter from another random player just around the corner? From experience?

Wishing to know so I won\'t blunder too often ;)

[Edit: Thanks, everyone, for the warm welcomes :)]

My favourite movie ever:
-- Trois Couleurs: Bleu (Kieslowki)

However, there are a few very close seconds:
-- Lord of the Rings trilogy (P. Jackson)
-- Avalon (M. Oshii)
-- Ghost in the Shell (M. Oshii)
-- Nell (M. Apted)
-- The Piano (J. Campion)

All of them [1] with fantabulous soundtracks, I suddenly notice as I re-read my short list. I guess I\'m sensitive to that  ;)

[1] except for Nell, the soundtrack of which I can\'t recall at all, for some reason.

PS:
I notice several mentions of Requiem for a Dream. I have heard the soundtrack and boy, am I curious to see that! If only I could just get my hands on it...

[Edit: slight spelling errors.]

I thought the inventory thingie depicted where the shield went and where the sword went. I think that\'s what the previous poster meant about referring to \"shield hand\" instead of left/right.

Or is it just that my newbie eyes are missing something?

Speaking of new levels of ineptitude, I\'ve died facing rats!  ::blush::  Granted it was right at the beginning, but it still happened more than once. I\'m such a crummy fighter  :D

On the upside: I can now exit the Death Realm practically with my eyes closed  :]

Eh, but I\'m shy! ;) Can\'t be shy in RP, I know    I\'ll definitely give it a try once the server is back up.

In the meantime, thanks everyone for welcomes and tips.

Newbie Help (Start Here) / Newbie & RP

This seems like the right section to write this in; apologies if it\'s not.

So I\'m a newbie who joined up during the past week and so far all I\'ve done is kill some rats and steal their stuff ;) (I\'m getting to the point of killing *clackers* and taking their stuff too...) I was firmly convinced PlaneShift was just about hacking beasts, so imagine my surprise when I bumped into a small group of people actually *role*playing at some inn!

I investigated (sites, forums) and found out you guys actually strive to get some RP done in between hacking beasts ;) You\'ve tickled my curiosity. I\'m used to MUSHing (PS is my first ever MMORPG) and the lack of RP was beginning to make me bored.

However, PS is not very newbie-friendly in that respect so I\'m asking for help. How does a newbie go about getting herself into some roleplaying situations? Somehow just accosting a random PC on the streets of Hydlaa doesn\'t seem like a very good idea...

Any help much appreciated. Thanks.
