General Discussion / Re: I want your thoughts.

I think it's a good thing.  There would be people trying to rob you of your weapons.  I think it would be annpying, but this way crafters would have to hire private guards to get from point A to point B.

Wish list / Mining items
« on: March 23, 2007, 09:43:43 pm »
After mining gold for quite a time I have amassed a small fortune.  And I have found that there really is nothing for me to spend it on.  I bought armor and weapons, although I don't need them.  I even bought some glyphs.  My point is, my character is a miner.  And, miners make quite a bit of trias. The only items you can really buy for mining are picks.  I can buy three picks for one gold ore.  So my suggestion is adding more items for the miners, and crafters, and people who don't want weapons.  Maybe different clothing, styles of picks, workers (like servants who you pay to mine for/with you), more pets, ect.  I just think that I should have more things to spend my trias on.  My mining character wears full leather, with a merc. helm, an opale encrusted broad sword, a turquiose encrusted short sword, and alexandrite encrusted dagger, an embosed dagger, a mining pick, and a ring of familiar.  The only things that I need in that whole set are my pick, and my ring.  I rarely use anything else.  So maybe adding work-boots that improve running speed for miners coming back to town.  Or blacksmith's gloves that help prevent burns or add to blacksmith skills.  Carts and booths for miners to carry their ores and merchants to show their items. A whole array of different picks, hammers, riveters, ect.  I just think we need more items that would help the players who are crafters, merchants, and blacksmiths, and not fighters.  Just more of a balance.  There are already multiple types of armors, and helms, magical swords, different styles of swords, different styles of weapons, and yet there are only two kinds of picks and hammers, and no clothing.

General Discussion / Re: Crafting system

I do that kind of thing with mining.  I got a lot of prog.  points mining gold.

Maybe someone could implement an ore-cart.  Like a hand-drawn cart that lets you carry massive amounts of ore.  The training would be less mind numbing if I didn'y have to make that same walk every single time I make a stock.

I like the new crafting system. It's more realistic. You can't study crafting for an hour and make master weapons.  I do have a small gripe with megulargy though.  After spending a half hour at the iron mine filling up my sacks, I make my way back to Harni.  I melt them, and make them into stocks.  I don't have a lot of strength, so I usually make only one stock a run.  On average, that takes me 45 minutes.  one stock. that makes [ ] that much megullargy practical training.  So it takes about 5 hours for me to get from zero to one?  How about from one to 2? I really think that will just take to long.  Making it to 200 in megullargy, sword crafting, axe, shield, blacksmithing....  Does this seem like a lot to anyone else?  i order to make your own stuff, you need 1000 progression points to be a master crafter. and weapon repair and armor repair are good skills for any blacksmith.  And some crafters might want to mine their own stuff.  Never mind strength training to carry all your books, tools, diagrams, ect.  So, in order to be a "master" you need around 2k prog. points.  And with the difficulty to earn progression points in crafting, and megulargy.... I just don't think it's quite possible.  What I think the fix should be is having level 200's making insane weapons, that cannot be looted.  A person with level 10 in megullagy, some kind of weapon crafting, blacksmithing, ect., should be able to make decent weapons.  Its not fair that the people who want to learn a profession need to spend hours upon hours training to make the same weapon a person with a level 2 axe skill can loot off of a rogue. There should definitely be benifits for those who chose to learn something rather than hack and slash their way to decent items.

Another thing the crafting system needs is more quests.  It seems that I did three crafting related quests for harni, and now all he needs from me is gold ore.  And the smith in Ojaveda gives the same quests.  Maybe if you did a really hard quest you would gain a whole skill level in a certain area?  Or just more quests to give you more, maybe easier diagrams.  I still can't make a sword.....

Thats just the opinion of a frustrated crafter-in-training.  Sorry I think I misspelled megulargy every time I used it, but it's not part of firefox's spell-check.

I just got my familiar, and I summoned it.  It was cool, but it wouldn't follow me, so I dismissed it.  Then, I couldn't re-summon it.  The game said I already had a familiar, and to take care of it. I asked someone in game, and they said to wait a day.  I did.  Nothing. So..... What do I do?  How can i re-summon it?

Newbie Help (Start Here) / Making steel stocks
« on: March 12, 2007, 02:46:16 am »
I know the first answer to this question will be "ask in game", but I tried, and it really didn't work.

I have a couple questions.  I'm doing a quest for Harni that involves getting him two steel stocks.  This is the root of the questions.

My first question is, how do I make stocks. I can make iron ignots, but I don't know how to make iron stocks.  I know making a steel one involves combining coal and iron, but besides that I don't know how to make any kind of stocks.

My next question is, what level metallurgy should I have before I can melt coal lumps in the furnace.  All I can make right now are piles of dust.

My last question is once I have the molten iron and molten coal... then what?  What device do I use to combine them and make them into a stock?

I've heard that it is easier to just buy the steel stock, but I want to know how and be able to.  I want my character to be a craftsman, so this is something I'll need to know. If you'd like to sell me some steel stocks that'd be great, and it will save me time on the quest, but I still would like to know how to do this.

Thank You

well, i also cant do any damage today.  actually, I learned I can attack rats, but nothing else.  i miss clackers every single time, or I am blocked.  My Axe skill is 2, and as of a couple days ago clackers were easy for me.

I got my little brother playing this morning, and he is having the same problem.  we share the same IP address, so could it have anything to do with this?  Within his first hour playing he was running through the sewers trying to evade a gobble that he couldnt attack, but it could attack him.

So we both cant attack anything but rats.  I used to be able to kill clackers, and sometimes trepors. does anyone know what happened?

Technical Help: IN GAME bugs (after loading world) / I can't do damage
« on: March 10, 2007, 04:38:49 am »
I got this game a while ago, but I quit for a while and not I'm back.  I've been back for 3 days. for the last two days, everything's been just peachy, and I've been really impressed with the progress of the game.  But today I ran into a slight problem.  I can't seem to do any damage.  For the past two days I've been fine, but today all I get is the "You hit "insert enemy here" in the "insert part of choice here", but failed to do any damage!"  I thought this could be an updating problem.  but, my updater wont work.  I can't connect to any of the mirrors.  So, does anyone know how to fix my lack of damaging skills and my updater?

Thanks
