No, I understand that.  But I thought there was a big wipe months ago.  I only assumed so because I created and played an account on an earlier version of PlaneShift, but when I came back recently, I didn\'t have any characters.

Stupid genomes!  They should give me the super computer to play PlaneShift.

I don\'t believe the fight calculations were changed so drastically as for you to attack something and die before you even noticed that you were loosing the battle.

I get the feeling you attacked something and looked away from your screen, assuming you were going to kill it.

I thought the big wipe has already taken place.

The computer I\'m talking about is used to calculate the genome of corn.  Apparently that\'s hard to do.

Besides you are obviously missing some little bit of information, this big blue writing on dark drawing:
Yliakum - first level
By this i don\'t mean the whole stalactite, but only its part. Thread topic also suggests that.
Have you read the mentioned book?

Umm, what?

Who\'s to say the person who wrote the book was accurate?

Who\'s to say the stalagtight angles inwards in a straight line? I mean, have you ever seen one?  I have yet to see one that angles inwards like that a makes a perfect cone.

Besides, I thought I read some place that the top two layers aren\'t actually in the stalagtight, but rather in the top of the cave itself.

That\'s still nothing...

At my college...Iowa State University, they recently purchase the words 73rd most powerfull super computer.  It contains something like 2048 processors.  I haven\'t seen it in person, but there was a picture of it on the home page yesterday.

Actually, just go here...

http://www.iastate.edu/~nscentral/news/2006/jan/supercomputer.shtml

That\'s the news article.

Quade processor isn\'t a big deal, even so.  The xBOX 360 has something like two, quad core processors.  Or is it four duel core processors? I can\'t remember for sure.

Altering the color scheme I think would be going a little too far.  Issues like this don\'t always come up that often.  It\'s just when certain colors of red are backgrounded by other certain colors and shades, it gets hard to see. Same goes for green.

Being color blind is really difficult to explain, because it doesn\'t really mean we can\'t see red or green.  Rather, it means we\'ll have difficulty distinguishing them from other colors, and, such as the example above, can be hard to see when backgrounded by certain colors.

...this brings me to another interesting problem I have.  In game, the skill system...yeah...

When I first started playing, I had no idea how to put skills up.  I thought the theoretical training was broke, because I couldn\'t see the green on the yellow...or the yellow on the green...

Which is it anyways? :)

Heh, I didn\'t think of that.  I chose the PlaneShift - Test template, and it looks good.  Very easy to read the \"Laanx Server...\" text at the top as well.

Thanks for the help. :)

Is anyone else Red/Green color blind?  Because I didn\'t notice the red lettering concerning the server until Karyuu mentioned it, and I am indeed color blind.

I thought perhaps it would be possible to change its color, or move it out of that colored background.

I do not remember the GMs name who assisted me, but it was in response to my petition.  Later on that day, my friend discovered the report command.  At a later date, there was an instance to which I did a \'/report\' on the said person.  Perhaps the command is indeed broken then?

Lol, okay, I see what you were meaning with that now, in reference to people spending real money for in game stuff.  A good deal of that happens in Diablo 2 as well.

As for the responses about me complaining about brackets...

That really wasn\'t the root of my complaint.  I\'m whining and being all flammy about the few people who really go nuts and go out of their way to make the game unpleasant for other people. I mentioned the quote above about the guy using the /me command to say \"[Player Name] -bleeps- your mom.\" ... only without the bleep, and not just once, but to spam the heck out of my chat window.

And no, the name has not been protected. :)

Unfortunately it would be a good idea if they were ;) Post edited and names removed.. -Karyuu

If in doubt, there is a stickied Player Policy made by Talad, the very head of the project, explaining this. However, the current state of the game does make it difficult - no one can argue against it.

But. As the game grows, as the world expands and features become available, there will be more and more concentration on in-character actions instead of 3D chatrooms - anyone who played MB and then CB would already see the huge differences. No one is forcing anyone to roleplay, but roleplay always has the first priority - that is why anyone intentionally disturbing it will get a very quick kick, that is why we have roleplay Naming Rules, and etc. This is not being fanatical, this is explaining what the game is meant to be for.

Although I can definitely assure you that it won\'t be possible in the slightest to make PlaneShift a 100% enforced roleplaying game, I am wondering what the problem would be if the dev team wanted this? It is their project, their hobby, their brainchild - you are here for free, paying absolutely nothing but your time. If you disagree with their rules, you can leave and go do something else. There are no chains and shackles, no contracts, nothing to keep you here if you do not like it.

Moreover, there are a lot of people who for some strange reason think that roleplaying means standing in one spot and being all \"bardic.\" This is nonsense. Roleplay is doing anything in-game as your character, instead of the player sitting at the computer. You can train at the Arena for hours and be in-character. The only thing that matters, is that you interact as much as possible with the characters of other people, instead of the players.

Thank you!  Well put. :)
