Hi everyone ;)

I have problem's connecting to the game, the game claims that the server is offline however when I look in the server page it says that 124 users are currently online implying that it is online. so I tried some other thing.I port forwarded port number 7777 to my computer, with no success, I disabled my firewall both on the computer and on the router again with no success. I tried to ping the server and apparently is working but the ping are kinda high for some reason (350-500). I tried to restart my router and my local computer to no avail and for the last thing I tried to update the game version, again to no avail it didnt even updated because he couldnt contact the server or its mirrors.. no matter what I did nothing worked. my guess says that the source of the problem is the actually game port, UDP 7777 but I cant see why it doesnt work since all my firewalls are turned off and my router forwards data from that port to me. I've dont everything I could think of but nothing seems to work but so far no success so I turn to you, what should I do to be able to play the game? ???

heres some related info:

OS: Debian Etch (Linux Kernel 2.6)
Internet Connection: 1.5MB Cable
Firewall (although currently disabled): IPtablets with Firestarter front-end
Router Manufacturer:Edimax (Model unspecified, just says broadband router)

can any1 please help me with this prob? its been almost a month already and i really wanna play this game. I've tried everything i could think of already. i tried the windows version under wine, I tried to run the game by the terminal and look for anything special (but i didnt understood anything)

please, can any1 help me with this goddamn problem

Hrm that old problem again eh?  I'd say that it must be some sort of odd issue with hardware.  I'm having some crashing/freezing issues with mine right now, and I have the same video card as you.  I wonder if the issue has to do with the nvidia 5200 cards?  My crash is different as it never totally crashes the game but we're using the same card on the same OS so... related maybe?

Yours is segfaulting... just a question... what happens if you download and run planeshift in wine?  It used to work for me - try that, and see if you still get crashes.  It might be an interesting expirement.

ok i tried to use the W32 version under wine and it crashed upon login, exactly as the Linux version

I downloaded the Nvidia Drivers from the Nvidia site, but i dont know how to exit the X server to install it, when ever i do ALT+CTRL+Backspace he kicks ne to the login screen and when  i do ALT+CTRL+F1, he still claims im running X server

well, i dont know if i got direct rendering on, all i did is the script you said, nothing more. and as far as i noticed there is no slowness, but the screen is completely black so i cant really see if its slow

I got the same problem on my Dapper Drake. but I have the Nvidia drivers installed and configurated already, but i still get these messages? what should i do?(I already tried to reinstall the drivers, no luck)

ok, i checked out the music files and i have full access to it(except the zzz.ogg and zzz.wav, I cant open them no matter what (Totem says he lacks a plugin for the .ogg and the wave files does load but doesnt play (it has 0 secound of audio).since I got these access error i though maybe it better if i would reinstall the game, and it still crashed so i did and then i ran the game with your scrip heres the result

Im running Ubuntu 5.10 fully updated with the 2.6 Kernel
My video card is Geforce 5200FX  with the recent drivers
My CPU is AMD Athlon 3000+ (3.0Ghz)
I dont recall if my motherboard is Nforce or a Gigabyte board (i remeber upgrading it a year ago but not from what to what)
I got 512MB of DDR RAM

about the years i dont really remeber, i think i upgraded my motherboard+CPU about 1.5 or 2 years ago but i dont remeber well, my card is pretty old, i bought it a couple of months after the 5200FX was released

ok i ran 5 pings to the server and the ms seems reasonable (considering the distance between my computer and the server+the fact my sisters computer is running with heavy download's). heres the results
