What can i say i\'m getting into character. ;)

Anyways for all those mac users out there painfully anticipating the release of the mac version I have a small suggestion to tie you over. Check out http://www.macgamefiles.com download the ThinkingTanks demo and join in on the carnage on the net, it\'s hillarious! To everyone else it\'s only for mac, so there :P

Hehe... yes, ThinkTanks is great. To everybody else, get it when the Windows and Linux version comes.

As for your work Lightyear, can\'t wait til it\'s done. I really want to check it out. But since we\'re nearly there, ThinkTanks will help me endure the wait :P

General Discussion / Might as well add this

I was bored, so I thought I\'d throw something together. It\'s not perfect in any way, but I like it :P

I might polish it some if need be... but I don\'t aim to win... just to kill some time :P

I\'ve had similar problems and at times I\'ve reached an error page as well. I can\'t recall what it said, but if it happens again I may save a screenshot of it if it\'s an unkown error for the administrator.

thought I\'d add me to this as well, even if I\'m new on the forums.

I\'m 23, but don\'t drive any car for that. Bikes works just nice ;)

General Discussion / Trees underground
« on: March 31, 2003, 05:30:12 pm »
I just have to add a note on the tree issue. Plants don\'t need actual sunlight to photosythesize. Any light of the correct wavelenght is sufficient.  It has nothing to do with Ultra-violet radiation. Indoor plants grow even though glass is an efficient shield towards UV. And there are plants that handle different wavelengths of light, seaweed and algae are the best example of this since they absorb different wavelenghts as the light diminishes with the distance from the surface. All these adaptations would be usable for plants in a illuminated cavern as well.

Since I can\'t test PS yet since I\'m still waiting for the mac version, I can\'t tell how impossible the ecosystem looks from my perspective as an ecologist yet, but I will probably post if I find something that is unbearable through my eyes... but then on the other hand, I play D&D based games without complaining and I don\'t know if Wizards of the Coast ever heard of functional eco-systems ;)

*keeps his fingers crosssed*

From what I\'ve heard there will be OpenGL improvements in 10.2.5 as well. Epic is waiting for next OS release to release the UT2k3 demo for mac (and probably the full game), and the only reason I can see that they do this for is improvements in OpenGL (ok, not only, but most probable). But maybe your whispers are better informed than mine ;)

I\'m already looking forward to the MB build later this week... keep up the good work!

Thanks for the reply Vengeance. At least my second CPU is good for OpenGL as well as PlaneShifts threading... and I guess it will run just great on my mac, especiallly since I have an ATI card ;)

I seem to been locked out from the forum last few days, but I guess this was a global problem. But there haven\'t been an update on the mac version in another topic has there? I did search for Lightyears posts, and the last one was here, so I guess not.

Sorry about the impatience, but this looks so great, so I want to be able to test an early build as soon to possible :P

I apologize if this has been covered before, but i did all kinds of searches and couldn\'t find anything. Does the crystal space engine support SMP and will this support be transfered to the mac version of PlaneShift?

Thanks for the reply! That makes the mac news even better  :) I can\'t wait until we see a playable version of it. Unfortunately that will probably drag down my own productivity close to zero   ;)

Lightyear is doing the mac port of PlanShift. He\'s was not mentioned in this topic (until I did), but in some others ;)

General Discussion / How about the mac version?
« on: March 14, 2003, 12:12:55 am »
Is the work Lightyear doing going towards the same version? Or is he (/you if you\'re reading this) trying to \"macify\" the old build and then update that?

First I must thank you for giving us the possibility to play this game in the future =)

Next, how does it run on a similar PC? Is this with low settings on the graphic? And how scalable is the graphics engine at the moment? Sorry about all the questions, but getting a project like this to the mac is quite exciting. I would love to help you if I could, but unfortunately all coding I know are population dynamics :(. There has been an update on the IMG  news though, asking for help, as well as a note about it on the forum, so I hope somebody has the time and skills to help you out :))
