Technical Help: IN GAME bugs (after loading world) / BLack screen
« on: August 14, 2006, 12:45:14 pm »
Hi, ive been playing for a while and i didnt encounter any bugs yet.
BUT since yesterday evening it started showing a black screen after loading into the game so....
Login succesfull,
Load screens as they should.
When entering the world all i see is my option bars, my HP status and the chat window.
I tried /unstick cause...who knows it might help ^^
IT just keeps giving me a black screen.
My ingame name is Sohai if thats something u need to know.
Please assist  :D

thank you  :)

Edit: I'm very srry but i decided to wipe the game from my computer and start with a clean set up.
It is fixed. For now. I know  ur team is very busy so this problem or the solution rather isn't top priority.
Altho i would like some answer because i have this feeling it will happen again. I'm just to hooked on PS to wait it out  :)

Thanks in advance for any solution or why it happened u can think of (the recover update didn't fix it, just a reinstall did)

and thats exactly how i pictured it   \\o//

city´s get straight nice cobblers villages/slums /outskirts would be the more irregular stones irregular in colour...by that i mean some are grey some are grey brownish , maybe a hint of steelblue to give it a cold stoney effect.
I was thinking....would it help if tried to make a colour scheme of Ylkiaum ( i hope thats the way to write it) . Cause it woudl really improve teh overall glamour and appeal of teh city.
And the tavern remark is spot on. But what if the road -when u enter the city from teh spell shop side- is  somewhat irregular shaped much liek ur first picture and then after the big staircase ( hehe wich one :) ) it is more strict as it says this is the big boys city. We have money we need to atract customers to come to our shops.
There is also place for brownish filthy looking stones or coblers? english isnt my native tongeu,
at the sewers cause a place where there is a direct entrance to a sewer should look more dirty because of the filth that gets carried out of by peopel moving in and out. Thus it would help starting players to identify parts and gates by the roads. since E, N, W and S coudl be anywhere atm :P

I wish i coudl go on but its 3.30 am and i think i shoudl force myself to bed  :D
lets hold that thougt cause we´re definatly on teh road to something doable, esthetic and realisticaly justifiable :)

i agree with the fact that the first idea of a glamorous coloured road would be misplaced given the idea of PS.

And i will try to see if i also can find such a picture.
But again this is just a wishlist/ what if section of the forum.
But the river stones in a fishermens village does sound awefully right.
And when i think about it u are very correct in saying that it needs a thougt and it should make sense in the world and not resemble a colouring book of a 5 year old :)

aaaaw now ur just being kind cause i took ur remark personal  :D

I do apreciate u replieing to the post :)

And if thats what u really think i cant help but feeling flattered :)
But i solomly swear ill try to comme up with such a crazy radical and original idea it will blow ur mind away..for instance..for a while i was in a think tank and there i popped the idea about how 2 players would be able to melt together and play thru 1 toon. combining eachothers pro and cons...geuss whats one of the new features being planned these days in future MMO

edit: Perhaps it might be interesting to have some parts of a city have coloured bricks for instance IF there was a castle the roads around the castle really deserve a different colour since people living near the castle wouldnt settle with the bricks the rest of the proletarians have. Streets around a pub would respectivly deserve a different colour same for slums. If u strive towards realism u should concider that in real life not all streets are a like.
And being honest im yet to encounter a country where architects didnt try to reflect the wealth of an area thru the appearance of the streets. Does that make sense ? :)

Oh well u can be sarcastic just put a smiley next time to clarify it humour is very difficult to translate over teh internet ;)

of course natural colours  :)
:'( dont destroy me. perhaps its best to delete the post?

Altho my logical side tells me ur being sarcastic......are u ???

but i still stand by the fact that where i live rich people have coloured bricks  :D
I dont really see how this conversation can go on cause it has been answered.

Do realise this is the internet funny remarks dont translate well

Is this serious?? :o

General Discussion / Re: SO YOUR NOT GETTING YOUR WAY? get over it...
« on: August 13, 2006, 02:08:45 am »
Srry to barge in like this -intimidated by huuuge post counts :sweatdrop: -

But RP is a lot like a class of drama.
There is a setting , no definitive outcome and characters adapt as they go along.
The dead of any impro act or RP is the fact that the one u are playing with doesnt play along with the previous sentence.
I was playing the other day , avenging some relative, a bystander started asking as to why we were killing that specific mob and i dugg up a story on how it killed a loved one and so on...my team member then said: O dont mind him he always brings up that story he just drank to much.
What would have killed the RP is me stating that he was lieing and that i was dead sober.
1st and most important rule in RP/impro ( as long as it doesnt contradict a previous statement) is that u play along no mather what. There isnt such thing as THIS is the story.
If u think thats the case u should  RP only with people who have read and agree with ur script. It really works both ways here. And I dont want to tick of people but , i realise this is sorta cursing but what the hell, this is the internet.
Golden rule, dont get to attached to a certain character. U can have affection for a character. U can have conversations over msn it can even be a real thrill at times ;)
But its not real. No mather how genuine it feels or looks , its nothing but a mear illusion a simulation of love and affection.

A classic example, very often the cute girl is a guy who likes the attention he gets as a female toon, not to mention teh fact it gives him a real kick playing a woman/girl. I mean many of us have tried korean or chinese MMORPG where ur forced to play a female if u want to be a mage. Many eventually just started playing a girl just because it doesnt break the ingame experience and also because women are taken care of online.

Conclusion: Its a game if i say i love u in game personal feelings are mixed in it. But that doesnt mean i really love u. Its a game, a story, an escape from real life. Its not real  :)

AAAh but there i disagree  :)

Because in my region natural roads have teh tendeny to be redish of the iron in the ground.

In some other region the road tends to be brownish yelloish because of sulfer or clay

Im pro ´realism´in the sense enviroment etc...but natural roads arent all grey.
And the posh neighboorhoods all have red bricks btw :D
Not trying to push here just going into the conversation  :)

haha thank u thank u , and yes i realise it wasnt the most original, but that wasnt really intented.
U can replace yellow by red etc ;) i shoudl have said a coloured road :)

And i soo much understand what PS tries to do, i can say with ease that i have a broad experience in RPG and MMORPG. BUT i admit it lacks originality altho hear me out for a second.

Before i posted this i talked about it ingame to see how people would react to it. Overal response was actualy positive, unless they were just being kind.

Let me rephrase ; a colour scheme for roads thus maps become less needed.

AND we LOOOOOVE the lollipop song  :D I can even go further and say i know the steps that come with it :-[

But i can understand the fact u liek more original ideas. I just thougt it could be usefull and fun. And i cant stop feeling im in OZ :D but ur comments are fair just and pollite. Just the way we like it.

Well its true, the auction channel is being used and abused over and over again.
I wont claim to be the best role player in the known universe but it really doesnt make any sense everybody can auction.

It would make more sense if people could buy a store scroll wich allows them to set up a personal store , common practice in other games. That wouldnt allow them to use the auction channel but it gives them the chance to sell whatever they want and u could connect it to a tax system so it would benefit the world. Ideal is when player bought goods are cheaper then store bought goods. The auction channel can then be transformed in a decent feature where "profesionals"
can sell multiple volumes of goods that have that little bit more to it. U can attach the ability to use the channel to a skill/item/qeust. That would stimulate people to sell goods for other people and make a percentage on it. The benefit would be the auction channel goes -global?, dont wanna step on the purist toes  :D altho I have much respect for them- and tax free.
This would lead to a limited amount of users using it and thus becoming more organized.

On the blinking part , a bit of topic srry, I rlly dont understand why the system tab keeps telling me how much my neighbour hits and how much the mob hits. the system tab rlly should only give information on ur interaction with it. Even more whenI dont open it,
it basicly means im not interested in its message. Thus when the tab is not selected it shouldnt spew information cause short attention span or not it really catches the eye and not in a good way. Altho i think the chat window deserves a topic on its own i dont wanna start one.
hehe I dont like to post to much at once cause I know I´m kinda loud and a busy talker :P

Wish list / Yellow brick road
« on: August 13, 2006, 12:03:46 am »
Hi  :)

While traveling thru the world of planeshift I couldnt help thinking how much fun
(perhaps only for me) it would be to have a real yellow brick road.
Nothing fancy as skills or commands or neat glyphs that activate social spells.
But a nice coloured road where people can refer to. Yes I realise there are already roads with a slight colour change (unless its my screen :P ).

It would also make finding a certain place more easy and enhance the feeling of a magical wonderous land. Because; -yes maybe i am the only one who has fond memories of The Wizard- anything could happen on that road, u never knew what might be next.
And I think it would be really nice being able to say:

´Oh yea, thats easy...just follow the yellow brick road...,

I fully agree on the above.
I sounds to much as favoritisme if a GM has the power to give such a skill.
Nobody likes elites and ´special´groups.

What if....

From a certain "age" u have the ability to start a teachers qeust.
It would encompass some of the basic skills u picked up during ur life in PS .
Im not saying any John doe should be able to pick the skill up, thats why IMO ingame age is a requirement to even begin the qeust.

It could send u all over the world collecting the materials needed to finish the qeust, it can even be a qeust in several steps so it would take a fair amount of time to finish it.
It could even require some objects created by players, so u would also need to find a person able to create the object for u.
(unfortenatly guilds spoil the fun in those situations but none the less)

In the end only  long time players would be able to learn the skill.
But most important EVERYBODY can learn the skill if they rlly wanted to.
Wich is far more fun then having a select few who were at the right time on the right place. GM generated content is cool but skill wise it creates more discontempt then it does good.
