General Discussion / Source Code

Ok,

So since the first time i played this game i have completed a few classes on programing, studyed a bit of C# and C++ and thought i could check over the source code to see if i was able to help with the game.

The only link i can find is for the orignal code that was released in 2006, and the link is broken.

is there a way to get just the source code of the most recent version?

Every mmo's main goal is to keep people playing as long as they can, Grinding is just the generic way to approach this.

and you thought it was different...

I've read the whole thing, it just sounds to me like they're just taking a bunch of things that already exist in other MMOs and throwing them together.

funny they called wow the next gen game... and behold everything in their game was taken from an earlier mmo!

and whoever said wow had endless content.. rofl.. so they need expansions for endless content? the fact that wow has no real endgame content is why they keep making expansions. Get Max lvl get best gear done.

If the game had something new would the makers not want to tell people about it on their site?

good question, the answer is the fact that many publishers will make demands on a change in the game to appeal to more customers. Adventurine did not want this. Happened to SWG happend to DAOC Wow u name it, vanguard, aoc. the fact that they are finding the right publishers that are more worried about the developers getting what they want than the fans is why they havent signed with blizzard.. mythic etc.

And they dont want to give to many promises to the community before they can actually release the game. Like when i first downloaded PS i found a huge list of features, then when i got in the game i found that 90% were not in the game. made me wanna quit right there.

i dont think you guys understand the fps point of the game, in AOC you only had to look at this person. this you have to swing your sword and time it right with an AOE. that is the biggest new generation of gaming feature.  plus yano THE COMPLETE FREEDOM THE GAME GIVES YOU!

you know for some people they have so much faith in this game that wont be finished for 10 years.  but they hear about another game thats been in the making for 8 years and suddenly its "lets figure out whats wrong with it" before thinking "wow 8 years to make a video game, i bet its epic"

but yano as i see from some of you you post on the most recent reply and dont go back to look at older post. like this.

I've read the whole thing, it just sounds to me like they're just taking a bunch of things that already exist in other MMOs and throwing them together.

Coneitic, if you hate GM events so much why do you even go near them? It must be hard to have to be near roleplay that sucks so much.

to be honest everyone i've been around has started next to me. haha i remember trying to rob a gm during an event and he didnt know how to act he had to ooc me to stop.

That's all subjective, Coneitic.  The one objective fact here is that smugly bragging "Mine is better than yours" is universally frowned upon, and likely untrue (Maybe you are a good RPer, I've never played with you, but that's not what I'm calling into question here).

i dont mean to come off that much like mine is better. i mean i could never compete with UTM's storys. hes a great write with an even better imagination. to bad my first hour playing i got him to hate me forever. but i can assure you im quite good at rping. especially spontaneos rp.

and if it makes you feel better a person i helped train to rp became a gm! oh noez

-----------------------------

and yes that rp, i still defend that it was valid. i was spoken to by laanx and sent to the dr for it. so if it wasnt valid a gm claiming to be laanx and taking action would only further it....

poor and embarassing ending for who? its exactly what i wanted. one thing i have noticed is if you challenge the settings a gm will always intervene. at least in my case.

i just dont get how u call it a poor ending, an athiest cursing the gods and trying to get others to follow him was struck down by the very thing he preached wasnt there. im sorry if my toon was wrong IC but IC coneitic is a simple minded criminal who never wins. i set my enki up for failure everytime.

its easy to play a know it all hero. or a mastermind thief. but the true rp'ers find the challenge in playing a simple charactor. so if thats poor than to each his own.
Well... all I can say is... thanks for proving my point Coneitic... It is not ONLY PLers that are disruptive and arrogant. Being a self-proclaimed RPer... and the attitude expressed here today... kinda speaks volumes...

i'll say it again

Coneitic was an athiest for the longest time... tell he started to revolt with duraza in the plaza and Laanx spoke to us.

dont discourage my rp because its better than yours.

if your doing a gm event and my little rp event on the other side of the plaza is more exciting and attracting your crowd... dont you get mad, come join in too.

i wont /ignore you

even if you /cry

lolz cuz thats not a reward. and i dont sit around complaining i try to get an rp going that will draw the attention away. im sure UTM likes a little competition =)

tho i have never really been good at coming up with a great story backround before an rp. i did seem to master a spontaneous rp that drew a big crowd whenever i tried.

again who you know had laanx talk to them =)

i actually love vista. it works to ways.

great for noobs to computers

great for veterans for computers.

i remember when xp came out oh everyone wanted to go back to 98 for so long.

vista is a great os imo. when i first got it was like F*ck vista and reverted back to XP. but soon learned all legit drivers are made for vista and not xp. xp ones are made by programmers that do work, but i found several problems with them. so i went back and actually played with vista.

first you gotta disable all eye candy, all unneccesary programs at startup AND U MUST have a minimum of 2gb of ram, anything less is stupid. oh and disable the firewall and other protection. they eat up ram.. all vista is, is a ram hog, figure out how to outsmart it and your in the clear like me.

besides the only ones that get virus' now adays are people who download porn and dont know how to pirate =)

anyways off to play left 4 dead!

he should be able to come back by now, hope he does......

great rper too.

and he wasnt disruptive.. you must not know him. he only did one bad thing =)

cuz my rp was better =)

to show that at the time people were already bored with the redundancy of gm events. because they dont pull people in with the great rp and storyline and action.

The reason for that is, a lot of people surround the GM, roleplayer or not, thinking they'll get a reward by participating. That isn't really the proper message to convey, as seen in many events.

had a good point there

Gm events fail... but gm participation in others rp events win. they can decide if the rp is valid and worth helping out to increase the fun.

and gm events fail.

everyone quick come look at me "insert story"

kill kill kill or
watch watch watch

over... reward.

haha i think i helped steal the people away on a gm event once and got yelled at for it.
