Linux Specific Issues / Crashing when loading level (Ati Mobility X1300)
« on: December 23, 2009, 12:47:37 pm »
I'm running Ubuntu Karmik, and i'm trying to run planeshift.
My hardware is:
2GB Ram
Core 2 Duo Merom 1,66 Ghz
Ati mobility Radeon X1300 with 512 mb of memory

The first time i loaded the game with a char i made on another computer, i had a graphics problem which kept to draw my character even if i moved the character away. Then, i tried tu suicide to see if it was only a misplacement problem, but as the death realms loads the game crashed with this message:

Linux Specific Issues / Re: Graphic problems

Hiya,

Finira, your inventory problem looks like broken support for the ARB_fragment_program extension.  I'm guessing Retek's problem is related to broken texture compression.

These problems arose on the Mesa DRI Intel drivers a while back, and I just had a report from a user with a r300 based card that similar issues arose.  Thus, I'm wondering if it's really just a Mesa 6.5.x issue.

Please try and download a patched gldrivers.xml and put it in data/config (back up the old one first, just in case).

Hopefully that should solve both your issues.

your link is broken, i can't find the file I am looking for. i also have those type of problems.

right click planeshift.bin when logged as root and go to permissions. Then tick the box "allow planeshift.bin to be run as a program".
It worked for my mandriva 2007.

Linux Specific Issues / Re: No skin.
« on: March 26, 2007, 05:17:05 pm »
There are.
I tried extracting the skin's zip and watching the pictures there were inside, but there isn't the splash. It seems the game dont comes in directory /Planeshift/art/skins , music and all other things in /art work.

Linux Specific Issues / No skin.
« on: March 26, 2007, 04:05:07 pm »
I use Mandriva linux 2007 and i downloaded and installed Planeshift.
When i start it, i find only the loading bar on the bottom, there isn't the picture behind the bar, only a white screen.
Same thing at the login window. It misses the skins.
the skins are found in a zip file in /planeshift/art/skins/base/client_base.zip
must i unpack it?
if yes, where?
ty for attention.

Fan Art / Planeshift' s map
« on: December 09, 2006, 05:49:39 pm »
Since i seen there is no actual "map" of the planeshift world, except the one in jayose's library, i decided to think about building one, with more villages:

Docks: every 2 planeshift hours will come a boat, wich will work as this: 0.00 the last boat just gone
1.30 another boat appears and characters come on it, 2.00 the boats starts to go. now people must wait the next boat to go to Geian, and in that instant everyone on the boat will load a new map, this one will be only a small square with the boat with the people on, and you have you wait till 2:30 when the boat will arrive to geian. people start then to come on the boat and wait for 3:00 for the boat to sail to essenx, at 3:30 the boat arrives there, ETC...
I would like to describe a bit my ideas on the new villages:

Essenx: A village of medium size, without defencive walls, may be like hydlaa for the houses disposition (however wont have a big plaza), has stone roads, houses made of wood, wont have a stone floor or elevations but grass and a large wodden dock. NPC there look like humans and some enkidukai exceptions.

Geian: This one will be VERY small, a wodden dock, a sand road, wodden huts for fishermen NPCs, a small wodden wall around the village and two roads, one goingto south and one following the coast to north.

The thing of the docks may be difficult to program, you can make a boat geian-essenx and essenx-geian, as one arrive at destination, 5 minutes after it will dissappear and the characters on it will be teleported on the dock.
