Wish list / Scroll wheel vertically scrolls multiple lines of text
« on: September 26, 2007, 05:12:27 am »
This is a petition I received and am now posting here (with some spelling corrections). I verified it does the same thing using the official GNU/Linux client. The same thing also happens in the main, system tabs and probably the rest.

Rotating the mouse wheel in Windows XP SP2 (in the petition submit window) is scrolling more than a line (I think this is part of Window's definitions, but I consider it would be better if it went down only one line, so that we didn't have to use the bar, as it(the scroll wheel) is more handy)

Ya it'd be easier to simply boot off of a floppy disk it will accept if you can find one. But if not maybe Elvi can try what I proposed..

Is it possible for you to temporarily take the hard drive out of the Commodore system and put it into a more modern computer and then install the OS you want using 1.44 MB floppy disks?

if you're able to do that then you might also want to consider configuring the system so that you can transfer files to and from the Commodore to another PC using a null modem cable or a parallel laplink cable. Kermit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kermit_protocol is a program that can perform terminal emulation and transfer files over a serial null modem cable. I use it to allow my 386 laptop running FreeDOS with 1 MB of ram to act as a dumb terminal for one of my FreeBSD PCs. I think it can run on a 286 as well though and it is very portable. I know InterSvr in MSDOS 6.22 can transfer files using a laplink cable but I'm not sure if you'll be able to easily do that between that and a PC running Windows for example.. I know there are third party non Microsoft programs that can be used for transferring files over a laplink cable in MSDOS too though. You might want to research that because you'll get much higher bandwidth out of a parallel laplink cable than a serial null modem cable. I've installed FreeBSD onto a 486 laptop I have using a laplink cable and it wasn't too bad.

The Hydlaa Plaza / Re: Starcraft 2

I'm only hoping that Starcraft 2 will be different enough from Starcraft to justify buying it. If it basically has the same units, abilities and gameplay but with a new engine and graphics then I'm not so sure I'll be very impressed. I liked the first game though.

Wish list / More advisormode related commands
« on: January 29, 2007, 12:25:08 am »
I and the other GMs in the GM meeting today thought it would be a good idea for there to be a command for GMs and maybe even player advisors to check who is in advisormode currently. It would also be helpful if GMs had the ability to remove a player from advisormode and ban a player from advisormode for an optional number of days.

Examples

/listadvisors
/removeadvisor PLAYER
/banadvisor PLAYER

Gharan, that is an excellent description of how the event unfolded. I'm also very happy you enjoyed taking part in it. :)

BTW: I played the Kran guard named Vynnelden. :D

In-Game Roleplay Events / GM Event - "Sword Theft"
« on: January 09, 2007, 05:49:14 am »
The GM endorsed event "Sword Theft" was written by Karyuu. Three GM's participated in the event, Rayken, Caarrie, and Mektar. In the event a female Enkidukai named Wytlina is indiscreetly looking around for a band of thieves in Hydlaa to help her steal a sword from a Kran named Vynnelden who is a guard in a Bronze Door tower. Wytlina has wanted this sword for a long time but Vynnelden is too strong for her to overwhelm him alone. The event  was completed successfully and had about 8 participants. It was rather hard to find enough evil characters for the event.

I would greatly appreciate any feedback from the events participants. Feel free to tell us what we did right and what we did wrong. Suggestions on how to improve future events are welcome. :)

Guilds Forum / Re: what about the Hell?
« on: January 03, 2007, 06:36:42 pm »
You could always use the words relegious meaning (tormenting fire) and get something with that. Though I must say that you can't force those guys to change the name when your own npc's use it.

uhm what npc's use the name hell?

Grok Idon tells you: Ah, *****, I made some good deals with ***. Ok, I will tr
y my best to understand the nature of this sword. [Grok rubs the top of a opale
ring wear in his left hand ... The sword starts to tremble and unexpectedly esca
pes his hands and attacks him! After the slash the sword drops to the ground, no
t moving anymore]. HEY! What the hell! The sword attacked me! It seems to have a
will on its own! Was some trick done by you?

Grok Idon uses the word "hell". I replaced a pronoun and a name with asterisks in an attempt to keep this quote from becoming a spoiler.

I think that the glyph on the edge of the books looks nothing like the Tolkien logo either.

Will the server allow and support Perl/CGI? Will you have forced ads?

Nikodemus try running the PlaneShift client (psclient) with the -fullbright option. That will disable shadows.

Example:

psclient -fullbright
