Wish list / Re: A balanced system for all

I think it's a great idea. But what off the oldies that have maxed all six ways? They've spent millions and millions trying to learn it and probably like months, even years. It would be unfair, if this get's implemented, to just drop their skills like that.

They're bound to get that sooner or later when PS gets completed. If the plans haven't changed they'll delete all the stats with the final release. Also those players would probably feel more at home on the Ezpcusa server than the RP server. But that's just a personal opinion :)

But back to the topic...

I agree on the matter with Kiraki and Vakachehk. Talking here purely from the RP perspective I don't see how it's possible to have a character that's skilled in healing people and hurting people and be -perfect- at both. Or better said both good and evil. Most people when they think of their characters backgrounds usually choose a series of settings that will make them take one of the two paths. I for one consider Dark Way and Crystal Way to be mutual exclusive. I can't see both sides of the coin when it comes to necromancy spells and healing spells.

My point is that a balancing is needed both stat wise and magic wise otherwise you're simply inviting god-modding. I'm pretty sure that anyone reading this topic can relate with meeting a "master of the universe" char that can't ever loose a RP duel because they can't understand that having maxed stats has nothing to do with RP.

Also I don't see how having the seesaw will be in any way limiting to any player who doesn't want a perfect OOC char ("I have max stats" is OOC). Most of the players who RP will only level their chars for some trias (buy a beer, get a ulber fur, buy a ring, etc.) not to brag with their awesome stats. And those people would appreciate true realism in this game. And I'm pretty sure this discussion was started with the RP server in mind.

Cheers.

General Discussion / Re: PvP in RP discourages a draw/withdrawl
« on: June 13, 2007, 08:05:35 am »
Very much agreed with what Rayken said. Thing is that with training nowadays it's rather hard to even come to an yield in some situations. Even so when you RP something like this it's very annoying to get a challenge (especially when many players actually care abut their DP ratio.) DP are a bad influence RP-wise since many tend to challenge just to get their quota up. Imho a RP duel is much more suitable to such situations, not to mention much more fun ;) (Whatever happened to RP duels anyway? Everyone seems to be interested just in pvp these days  :( )

Complaint Department / Re: OOC pulled IC like mad

I spreaded ooc word about getiing info about imperium and possible attack on them.. making sure that it is visible ooc I used []

it is still possible that whoever is involved got their information in a completely IC way which you don't know about.

Yes, some people might have got it in an IC way. But still, since the information originated OOC, someone must have gotten it wrong and pulled it into IC. That's the whole idea really... Some people not being able to make the difference. If X tells something OOC to Y and Y takes it IC to Z, of course Z has no fault in this matter.

I guess the point of this is, that people can't keep ooc information as ooc information. Not depending on the information

And sadly this things happen to more and more people and quite a few I didn't expect to do so. Disappointing, is all I can say. :(

Wish list / Re: stop guild nomads

Rrrrr, If I had a guild, and someone left it to fight with another guild I think she/he won't be welcome anymore...
It kinda would damage the loyalty aspect of ones guild ;)

Precisely. And if a guild won't act like a group instead of separate individuals with own agendas, what's the point of having them? For a pretty tag and another chat tab?

Linux Specific Issues / Re: graphic problems
« on: January 01, 2007, 05:03:11 pm »
Hi,

Same problem here on Gentoo. Screen flickers when I run X in 24-bit color depth and the game is nearly unplayable in 16-bit depth. I went trough all the pssetup configurations but none worked for me.

Sysinfo:
Pentium M 1.5Ghz
1Gb RAM
Intel 855GM video card
running Gentoo with Mesa 6.5.1-r1, libdrm-2.3.0, xorg-server-1.1.99.903-r1, xf86-video-i810-1.7.3, xorg-x11-7.1,kernel 2.6.17

I've tried changing the Mesa drivers, libdrm, xorg-server, xf86-video-i810, even kernel versions. Nothing seems to work. That's why I think it might be a PS bug...I'd appreciate some help on this matter if anyone can find the time.

thank you
.Piriel

P.S. I just compiled the game from the 27.10.06 CVS. The problem it's still there.
Even using the latest kernel drivers, mesa and X11 doesn't make any difference. It looks like a refresh problem to me. I've tried so far 60Hz, 70Hz and 85Hz refresh rates on 1024x768 both fullscreen and windowed modes.
Will keep researching :)

[edit]
The games works for me in 24bbp if I run it using the Gentoo 2006.1 livecd. And the graphics issues are fixed by Nilaya's XML. So you either have to reinstall Gentoo or downgrade your system to the original configuration (thing I didn't manage to do so far, because the Xorg libs don't seem that easy to modify :-\ ). Or you can wait 'till the Xorg 7.2 is out and maybe the bug will be fixed....

Best of luck to all and I hope this solves the problem for you too :)
