Greetings;

Nope, no luck yet!  Going to go back and try it once again from the start using the exact same directory structure as is listed in the document.

Greetings one and all!

I have been working my way through the static build guide available on Induane's website but have run into a glitch when attempting one of the larger linking lines.  Has anyone managed to follow all the way through the guide and get it all to compile correctly?  If so, and if you have time in the next few weeks maybe you could give me some help!

Thanks in advance.

Shadallark

P.S. Here is where I am at:
I get to the point on the page where we are applying the patch to CEL and the page says: Yes, this next command should be very long.

When I copy and paste that command and try to run it I get the error:
Quote
/usr/bin/ld: can't locate file for: -lpng12
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

If I remove the -lpng12 from the command and run it I get a similar error but this time for -lcal3d.

Do you have any ideas what I might be doing wrong to get these errors?

Good day to you!

It sounds like you have not installed the program.  Grab the PlaneShift3D folder and drag it to your applications folder or to your desktop... at that point you will be able to edit the file.

Good luck!

Mac OSX Specific Issues / Re: Sound not Working

Greetings to both of you!

I am running the game on a MacBookPro as listed on page 7 of the system specs thread and the in-game sound seems to be working for me.  I hear music that changes during battle scenes and such.  Do both of your systems use the Intel High Definition Audio?  If not, do you know what they are using for sound?

Have a great day!

Good day to you based;

Before anyone starts digging too far into any of your error posts that you have just put up, have you followed all the steps in the "A Guide to Running Planeshift on Mac OS X" topic at the top of the list of topics?  Some of your errors occur at times that used to occur to me until I turned off video compresion as indicated in the guide.

Have a great day!

Good day to all of you!

As I am finding myself with a small amount of time for the next two months and am considering throwing some of it at PlaneShift, and since I am running PlaneShift on a MacBook Pro Dual Intel Core laptop I am interested in any problems that Intel based Mac users are still having getting the game to run on their machines.

Please post here with any problems that you are still experiencing and your system specifications (or better yet let me know that your system specs are listed in the system specs link at the top of this forum).

Have a great day!

He he, I know what you mean about walking far... I started walking from Ojavedo and walked until I passed through a tower like thing beside a body of water.  Then I started walking back and got myself stuck way up high on the mountainside while I was looking to see where the creatures were that I had passed on the way there.

Have a great day and I hope we both get unstuck without having to /die.  All depends on if we are online at the same time as the GMs I guess.

Shadallark

*edit*

Thank you to all the GMs on IRC who helped free my character.

THANKS!

Have a great day!

P.S. Moderator please feel free to lock this topic now.

Thanks for the information Karyuu;

I did not know if I needed to be logged in to the game when someone was unsticking me or not.  Is it best for me to post here when I am online or to simply make a request through the help command online, or by checking if one of the GMs is in the game by using the /who command?

Thanks for your assistance.

Good day to all you GMs (and anyone else reading this)!

My name is Quinthek, and I appear to have got myself stuck on the side of a hill in ojaroad2.  I was climbing high to get a better view and to see where the tefusangs where when all of a sudden my feat stopped working!  I cannot move forward or backwards, I cannot unstick myself, and I cannot sit down.  Thankfully I can still turn around so I have not started to panic yet.

If any one of you amazingly powerful GMs could move me to the bottom of the hill or even back over by the body of water I cam from it would be greatly appreciated!

Shadallark (aka Quinthek)

P.S. Thank you to Caarrie for letting me know that GMs could do this for me... keep up the good work!

P.P.S. Do you require any additional information from me about what I was doing at the time (log files, etc.)?

Bonjour!

At this point I will have to say yep, do all the steps in the guide that you can... please post your system specifics though as they may allow some more knowledgable people to help you get this working (OS X version, computer, procesor speed, memory, video card, etc.).

Bonne chance!

Bonjour!

If the files are still in the disk or disk image it sounds like you have not installed the game yet.  Open the disk image and drag the PlaneShift3D folder to your applications folder (or wherever else you would like the game installed).  At that time you will be able to edit the files required.

Please let me know if you require any additional assistance!

Bonne chance et au revoir!

Bonjour;

I agree with Induane... but I will let you know that the most import step from the guide for me was:
Quote
IMPORTANT1: if you are running on Intel and you are having graphical glitches or the game isn't working at all, you may want to disable texture compression. You can do this by editing the file Planeshift3D/data/config/r3dopengl.cfg to turn off texture compression. Find the line:
Code:
;Video.OpenGL.UseExtension.GL_ARB_texture_compression = false
and remove the semi-colon, so that it looks like so:
Code:
Video.OpenGL.UseExtension.GL_ARB_texture_compression = false
Save the file and start up Planeshift. It should hopefully fix your problems.

Making that one little change made all the graphics appear correctly, allowed me to loot mice, and be able to read windows that I opened (such as inventory and stores).

Bonne chance!

Au revoir!

Shadallark

P.S. If you are having troubles with the change I can send you the file with the modification and you can simply replace the one you have.

Thanks for the tip!  That is the problem that I was having as well!

We'll get there. I have a working pssetup.app, and updater.app. Unfortunately I still have some issues with getting psclient.app to compile cleanly. :(

Hey there Birk, how is this progressing?  Any way that I can help?

Opening up the file Planeshift3D/data/config/r3dopengl.cfg in a text editor, and finding this line:
;Video.OpenGL.UseExtension.GL_ARB_texture_compression  = false
and removing the leading semicolon.  This will disable texture compression which might slow stuff down or break things, but it might help.

Good day to all;

I have read that this worked for some Intel Mac users and just wanted to let you know that on my MacBook Pro 2Ghz with 2GB of RAM it made things worse as it would now crash on entering the game.  Therefore, I have gone back to having the semicolon so I can at least get into the game and do a few things.

Keep up the great work dfryer!
