Oh im sorry, you were making sooooooo many generalisations, i thought i would join in with a general comment addressing the many people in here that have stated they wont train.
You see its easy to generalise isnt it.

Why is it, when you look through the PS forums, you see a pattern. The same people moaning about the same things all the time and they are the ones claiming hard done by... funny that.. morons.
Noone has the right to say anyone can or cant RP. One persons RP may not be compatible with anothers, doesnt mean they are not RPing at all. And sure, some are better than others. But as long as people TRY to RP and join in with the game and the settings, whats the problem?

As for the people who dont lvl or train... well your not playing PS are you, your txt chatting. PS is an RP game WITH mechanical aspects to aid and to help develop RP. If yoiu refuse to use those aspects of the game, then your not playing PS in the way it was designed and you have absolutely zero right to dictate in any way what YOU think should be done. Play the game as it was designed to be played useing ALL aspects of the game and maybe people will take you serioiusly. Until then, dont moan.

Adding these events to the official calendar is our next step. We certainly have not forgotten or ignoring them. In fact if someone can write them up and provide screenies i will happily add them to the calendar asap.

To answer the question of time is still not an easy task. That said, we have been working on this recently and it was decided that while keeping the IG day/night ratio, we would make the IG months spread over a real time 12 month period. As PS only has 10 months, there are 36 days to each PS month. By doing this players still get to experience day and night in PS but can still associate RL seasons and holidays with PS.
The months will be broken down as follows:

Unodin 1st April – 6th May

Byari 7th May – 12th June

Treman 13th June – 18th July

Kravaan 19th July – 23rd August

Quintahl 24th August – 28th September

Azhord 29th September – 4th November

Ylaaren 5th November – 10th December

Dwanden 11th December – 15th January

Novari 16th January – 21st Febuary

Yndoli 22st Febuary – 31th March

We hope that this is useful and that you can now start with seasonal events. This of coarse also allows you to use IG dates too.
Enjoy.

In-Game Roleplay Events / Feast of Unity
« on: May 18, 2010, 10:23:30 am »
To precede the official release of the events page here http://www.planeshift.it/events.php we would like to draw your attention to the first of the events from the calendar. All are welcome to take part. These events are designed to promote player RP with minimal GM support. That said GMs will be available and will be taking part to help enhance the events.

Feast of Unity
Byari 13 [19th May]
http://www.planeshift.it/event4.html

On this day we celebrate the unity shared between the various races of Yliakum. We remember the toils of our ancestors and thank them for all they helped to build to bring us to this day. The first feast was reported to be held the day that the last stone was placed on the wall that surrounds Hydlaa. Those that believe this to be true often bring a small pebble to add to the wall or just carry it with them. Others believe that the feast started as a symbol of peace between races to discuss an end to conflicts and difference of opinions. Those that believe this to be true leave their weapons at home and vow to make a new friend of a different race on this day.

People travel from all levels to meet and share in the giant feast in Hydlaa. This is an opportunity for cooks to show their skills, entertainers to perform to a crowd and merchants to sell their wears. A dining area is set up near the Laanx temple and market stalls pop up all over Hydlaa. After the feast itself people set up their stalls or try to attract a crowd with entertainment and story telling. But whatever people decide to do, they are all their for the same reason, community. Over the years this celebration has become one that brings enemies together as friends, a day that people leave behind their quibbles with others and conflict is left outside the gates.

When you come and join the celebration, you are expected to bring something with you, be it food, drink or entertainment. As long as you bring something you will be greatly welcomed by all. It has become a tradition over time to greet those who are not of the same race, with a bow to signify your respect for other races and their beliefs. When leaving the feast it is tradition to bow and declare “I leave the feast, good will to all.” to all left at the table. Where this originates no one is really sure.

There are people that use this celebration to do things they would never usually do, Iragdun himself even turned up to a feast in fancy dress. One year Harnquist even vowed to drink not a thing all day but he vanished half way through the celebration and was later spotted sleeping it off under a fur round the back of his house. But after all its the thought that counts. The celebration starts as soon as the tables are set. Staff of the vigisami set out the tables early and as people arrive the feast starts to grow.

Celebrated all over Yliakum by all races.

Have you considered hopping into IRC and speaking to a GM in #planeshift-gmtalk?

As many of you may know, over the last few months the GM and Dev team have been experimenting with different ways to help promote player RP's. One of the things we have been doing is to place and lock posters at various locations around Yliakum. To an extent this has been successful. However, I am sorry to inform you of the cessation of this service. GMs and Devs will no longer be locking books in place until further notice. We thank you very much to all who have made use of this service and we would very much like to hear your thoughts as to the difference it did or didn’t make to the announcing of player events.
We are always looking at ways to improve the announcments of player events so any thoughts on the matter would be welcomed.

I would like to address your concerns here if i may. First of all, let me state that i have read the logs of your conversation and i feel i need to clear a few things up for you. When you request help in the help channel, dont assume you are speaking with a GM. The help channel is manned by players like yourself. Yes the GMs if they are on monitor it but for the most part any help request you make gets answered by players NOT GMs. Take this case for instance, the person advising you WAS NOT the GM that contacted you via /tell, so he wasnt ignoring your request regarding help on your quest, he just wasnt the advisor assigned to you. [And for the record nothing has changed there the help channel has ALWAYS worked that way.] May i also point out that you were offered a move to the DR portal so you did not have to traverse the full DR but you wanted a lift to Oja. The GM that contacted you was simply advising you that the GMs are not there to answer to your beck and call and that your argument for a transport out of the DR was not a valid one. He was not rude in any way and although he was not advising you, near the end of your chat he did advise you how to proceed regarding your quest problem.
Knowing these facts i sugest you watch your video again and remember that you were speaking with two different people and not one GM. I hope this has cleared things up for you. But considering in your conversation you stated you have been around for many years you of all people should know how the help channel works.

General Discussion / Re: What happened?
« on: May 19, 2009, 02:50:33 am »
There is no point in flogging a dead horse. There is no need to post arguments with statements that have already been made 300 times before. Respect is lost for people when they hard on about the same crap over and over again. My argument here is simple, read the forums, find how many threads there are about what RP is and such. Once you have read one you have read them all. No backup statements are needed when telling someone to change the record. And just so the GM team doesn’t get the blame for anything I may have said, I am no longer a GM. I am now on the settings team. The reason staff are acting so passionately and defensively is because the morons in this forums, and you all know who you are, are constantly trying to undermined and belittle the work the staff are doing. I won’t harp on about volunteer work etc, but maybe if the community and the vocal morons around here showed a little respect and gratitude rather than picking fights all the time, the forums would be a much nicer place to visit.

Incidentally, this is not an angry post, though I see it may seem that way. It’s the fact as they stand. People just tire of having to defend all that they do. Still, im smiling, im enjoying myself, as I know many, many others are too.

The Hydlaa Plaza / Re: Why do people argue on internet forums?
« on: May 18, 2009, 12:42:14 am »
I got screenies, prints and HTML backups of this thread for future use Xillix..

The fact that you people need to descuss the 'definition of RP' outside of the nooby section at all tells us a lot. Give up, Grow up and move on.
Draw a line under this topic, stop trying to have the last word and actualy TRY to be constructive.. Its not hard..

15
OH MY CHRIST ON A BIKE!!!!!!!!!!!
Dont you people ever get sick of arguing the same crap, thread after thread after trhead after thread??? If your RP skills were anywhere near as good as your heads are big. And maybe if you could even think of an original argument instead of the same old crap day after day. Then maybe just maybe people would start actrualy listening to you instead of laughing at you.. And i can assure you, THEY ARE.... Get over yourslves..
