1. The ability to repair items while sitting down. Sitting shouldn't need too much concentration to make you busy.

2. A relatively easy way for new players to make money. Something between looting rats and mining gold: nothing that would make you rich instantly but something that would give you a moderate income and enable you to train and buy basic equipment. Just to smooth things up a little bit in the beginning.

3. Animals. Birds, small mammals (something like squirrels, rabbits and hedgehogs), insects, cattle, domestic animals. Different ways (not) to interact with them. Some of them could be caught and eaten, some them would just move around to make the place more livelier. Some of them would give you stomach ache / lower your stats for a while if you'd eat them. Some of them would bite your fingers if you'd get too close, then flee from you.

4. Berries, birds' eggs, mushrooms, fruits - things you can easily find and eat. Some of them poisonous (see #3).

5. Children running around, walking around, playing, fighting with sticks, standing close to their parents. Parents carrying their babies. Elderly people - Enkidukais with grey fur, bald Ylians. I wouldn't mind if they were all NPCs at first, even just having them around would be nice.

Great thread by the way.

Draklar: why don't you trill both r's then? I'm just being curious...

General Discussion / Enkien names - r/rr?
« on: August 05, 2007, 11:35:10 pm »
Here's something I've been thinking about.

My enki character happens to have the letter r in her name. Should it in fact be with rr? So far I've seen people using both options.

According to PSWiki there is no r in Enkien, only a purring sound, which can be written as rr. On the other hand we have Brado for example with only one r. Is the r a bad transliteration or is the name written in the way most (non-Enkidukai) people would pronounce it?

I know this is a detail but I'm just someone who happens to love them. Besides I have to develop my background story a little bit if I've misspelled the name. Sorry if this has already been covered somewhere else.

Too bad. The positive side is that I can use my imagination more freely now. I'm only sorry about forgetting the names since coming up with good ones always takes such a long time. Thanks for the quick reply!

Is there any way I can see the choices I made during the char creation process? When I modified the character description I erased pretty much everything. I thought that people shouldn't be able to find out things like my parents' professions by just looking at me. Sure I could just ignore the choices I made and write a whole different background for my character - just wouldn't want to start from the scratch with the story. Besides I had really cool names for my parents and now I can't remember them.   :-\

Linux Specific Issues / Streched toolbar icons with widescreen
« on: May 14, 2007, 10:00:07 pm »
My toolbar icons are oval for some reason. I know they should be circles. They are working fine, just looking a bit odd. This is a minor cosmetic problem that won't affect the game play much  - nevertheless, I'd like to fix it. Please let me know if you have any ideas about the matter.

I have a widescreen. The graphics are otherwise fine - hexagons are hexagons, squares are squares, people don't have flat heads etc. The toolbar icons were fine in the beginnig but then I tried switching between different toolbar modes to see which one I liked. As a result the icons became ovals.  ???

I do have Linux but I don't know if the problem has anything to do with it. Perhaps this should be in the Newbie Help, sorry if I chose a wrong place to ask...

I HAD to test if the monsters are fighting back or not... They are. I'm glad I tried with rats first.   ;)

This is the first thread where I found the /tellnpc command! Didn't find it in the manuals either - maybe I was reading with my eyes closed or something. Anyway thanks a lot, I can stop smashing my head against the wall now. ;)
