Hi folks, my client has some problems to create deatch  \\o//

here's some console output,
It happened first time when i used '/die' in the outside world.

just out of interest, what do you mean with "made it executable in several ways" ?

still having minor-to-mid graphical issues but seems stable and playable

EDIT:
It is to be noticed, that the planeshift-art package wont work on ppc for this is a x86 binary-compiled file.
So one should think about how to provide a ppc art-package. Either zipped art data or ppc compiled binary.

hi iceberg,
please verify that you are in the games group by invoking "groups" on the command line interface.
also use "glxinfo" to verify that dri is enabled for you user.
root probably wont have dri, depending on your xorg.conf dri section.

please post the results of your findings.

please go and install mesa 6.5.3, that was the solution for me.
i can't tell you how to do this in ubuntu, you will have to ask your distro-community

what mesa version do you use?
you will see by using glxinfo (or you have to use fglrxinfo or smth. like that)

i have mentioned it and i'll say it again :)

jose gave me a link to a tar'ed file with all the data/art stuff in it. so i just untared and copied -R'ed all the things to /opt/planeshift/bin/.

so the idea would be to provide a package with the tared or gzipped data instead a binary, or to build a ppc binary. if you'd give me advise on how to do this, i'm glad to build the ppc-art bin for you

ok, ebuilds working fine.

build succeeded flawlessly and pssetup and psclient are running fine.
But i had to use an external package for the art/data stuff (provided by jose) so maybe is would be an idea to provide them somehow in non-binary format or a ppc bin.

just created a character and entered the game, looked ok so far, still some graphical glitches. I will go and collect them and post it.

SOLVED!  \\o//   :woot:

i package.unmasked mesa and emerge the new 6.5.3 version and now setup and client fonts are working :)
see you ingame :D

here is the newest update:
build was successful.
And things are going better. Still, the fonts are totally unreadable.
I followed http://vaalnor.mine.nu/psdoc/?q=node/39 but nothing worked.

ati-bin drivers are not available for ppc

hmm...could this be because i never had a working planeshift-art package?
jose kindly provided me with a package.
i'm currently building manually (no ebuilds) and will see how it turns out and then come back to update with this thread with the results
