Just an idea.....

I think NPC smiths should sell common items, but with a catch.

They should start with 0 in stock.

*Huh?*

Yes. 0 stock and they can only sell what's been sold to them from players. Looted items not wanted, crafted items "too low" for the crafter's tastes.... oh , and maybe spawn a limited selection of item in the smith's inventory - in limited quantities, albeit -  available to sell, as well (ok, so not ~only~ what players sell... sue me). These things can be of varying qualities (and may even include a few really good magical thing, though that be rare). And if the run out of stock, they run out until more items spawn in their inventory, or some player sells weapons to them.

*shug*

Just an idea....

Oh, and use of other metals in crafting weapons would be welcome anytime soon, now  ;)

When is that next release you ask? Oh, what is that I'm supposed to say again... oh yes, "I'm sorry, that's classified need to know top secret hush hush information."

 :)

NOOOOOOOooooo...... you're supposed to say "Soon™"  8)

Me ponders redoing a certain .... quest, from a certain dwarven woman at the Bronze Door ramp.....       :detective:

Maybe..... hmmm.....

i suppose so...

And  :offtopic: about the 3rd way in the Winch: i know what it is, i just haven't found how to get it. A friend got it - she doesn't know how  ;D .

Anyways, i suppose that would be ~one~ way to get the letter for the Winch boss, again..... I lost it on my new char. No, not my dog, the Vigisimi ate it.

What about winch access? Would that be lost too?

The question is: how necessary is it to wipe now? Is the server so strained with data that a wipe is the only way to debug it efficiently? Are new mechs that make the current ones obsolete, and as a consequence, the advancement achieved by current characters incompatible going to be released? Is the economy problem going to be fixed from the core? Have serious exploits and bugs been found that only a wipe can fix?

If the answer is yes, then smite them all! Wipe everything, I say. In fact, I'd love to throw a doomsday event. Can't wait for v.1.0

That pretty well sums up how i feel. None of that has been shown - so far - to be the case, so i went with no. But if such ~is~ the case....

why didn't you say so? (or did i miss it?  :-[ )

I looted a steel dagger, today - not the 1st time, but it made me think about this:

I've made daggers before, and had to use steel ingots. Wouldn't that make a steel dagger? But no, it makes a (regular) dagger. But it's still made of steel. So we seem to have steel daggers that aren't and steel daggers that are. I think there's other "steel" weapons, like short swords, but anyways....

I think it's be better to amend the "Steel" weapons names (those that have regular-names counterparts) to something like "Tempered Steel" or "Hardened Steel" or some-such, since the regulars are also of steel - those we can craft for the moment, at least.

I didn't want to double post..... so....

This is what Tilavi's description is:
Quote
A female Enkidukai in plain clothes with an apron which is stained slightly from food and drink. Her graceful movements between the tables belie her position as a server.

Fair enough, nothing wrong with that. Now.... in "Tilavi is in trouble", it ends with: "-Tilavi makes a clumsy sort of curtsey and almost spills the beer she is trying to give you.-"

Clumsy? Or graceful?  :detective:

Try a regular hammer. Just to see what happens.

About silver being useless.....

I have a char that can smelt gold. I had him mine silver today. Now why would i do something stupid like that? Simple. Gold is hard to get, and i needed him to get better in mining on the soonish side of things, but i didn't want to make steel stocks - can be a pain to try to sell to players. So i mined silver. It's pretty easy to get, and pays better than steel with NPCs. And know what? i ranked :D And payed my level, too (and then some).

Basically: silver is quick and easy.

I ~do~ look forward to being able to use other metals in weapons crafting, though  O--)

Also, be out of the game for, lets say 10 hours would mean everytime you log in you would have to find an excuse where has your char been the last 100 ingame-hours (4-5 days).

Sleeping, of course.  :P

I just find it funny that my guys can be up for a whole day and more.... but i'm not about to stop everything just because it's night (poor people near Harn's.... bing! bing! bing! all night long).

I'm not sure about slowing down the days, though. Makes for long nights....  I'd have to see that, see how it feels, how it works out, before deciding if i'd like it or not. It's an interesting idea, i think.

Kinda of a hard thing to deal with, though: there's no really ideal solutions.... just best compromises.

Similar info you can get nicely in game.
I would even nearly consider it as spoiler.. *shrugs*

My advice: Ask IC in game. :]  :flowers:
Like i mentioned: i did.

If i asked here, it's very much a last resort, because all info seems to be considered a spoiler, somehow or other. In game, i only manage to get very evasive answers.

instead of sitting around withing for people to serve it to you on a platter.

Gee..... that's really nice help. With help like that, i don't need any smackdown.
Thank you. I think...  ???

Anyways..... let's just lock this thread.... i'm obviously not going to get anywhere, here, either, with the way it turned. :surrender:

Or else someone can actually come forward with some sort of pricing scheme to help out.... IRL we have catalogues to compare things to.... we don't have that luxury IG, ATM....

Ok.... i'm kinda looking into buying some crafted stuff.... but all i know is the prices NPCs charge for regular quality stuff. How can i determine if the price for crafter items is fair, given the quality of the item? How can i see if i'm getting ripped off or if i'm getting a great deal for a , say.... 150Q LS? How does one determine the prices to take in account the quality? :detective:
