Buying crafted weapons
« on: November 29, 2007, 07:10:40 pm »
Ok.... i'm kinda looking into buying some crafted stuff.... but all i know is the prices NPCs charge for regular quality stuff. How can i determine if the price for crafter items is fair, given the quality of the item? How can i see if i'm getting ripped off or if i'm getting a great deal for a , say.... 150Q LS? How does one determine the prices to take in account the quality? :detective:

Same as in rl. Shop around and compare prices.
I suggest the statue of Laanx gets turned into a statue of Parallo <3. An NPC could never replace the huge hole he left in my heart when he died  :'(

Ask someone who crafts how much it will cost to buy their sword. They have to tell you or miss out on a sale.

Or else someone can actually come forward with some sort of pricing scheme to help out.... IRL we have catalogues to compare things to.... we don't have that luxury IG, ATM....

We don't, no. But you asked at 6:10 pm GMT and it is now 9:15 pm GMT. You could have gone and gathered the info you want in an IC way instead of sitting around withing for people to serve it to you on a platter.

If you don't have an answer, then please quit stiffling this thread if it doesn't interest you.

Similar info you can get nicely in game.
I would even nearly consider it as spoiler.. *shrugs*

My advice: Ask IC in game. :]  :flowers:

Like i mentioned: i did.

If i asked here, it's very much a last resort, because all info seems to be considered a spoiler, somehow or other. In game, i only manage to get very evasive answers.

Gee..... that's really nice help. With help like that, i don't need any smackdown.
Thank you. I think...  ???

Anyways..... let's just lock this thread.... i'm obviously not going to get anywhere, here, either, with the way it turned. :surrender:

Ask my guild leader Atir . She makes some nice 300Q swords and is online most of the week.

I told you how to do it. Is that not helping? Anyway, if they wouldn't tell you about prices how could you buy their weapons? Say you want to buy one and ask how much. An idiot would be one that wanted to sell a sword but wouldn't let someone buy it.

You could always try posting in auction what you want to buy and how much you are willing to pay for it. One thing you should also do is note how much steel stocks are going for and build in profit from there for the sword maker. Another thing you can do is provide the materials yourself either by buying them or digging/smelting them yourself. Expect to pay extra for each step the crafter is forced to do. You will need ten or twelve stocks for a longsword, I think and I saw them for sale for about 2000 tria apiece. Now those were high quality stocks but you are looking at 30000 tria at a minimum.

Take these numbers with a grain of salt the market has been known to fluctuate.

Those figures don't apply anymore.

With the old crafting system there was an equation for calculating the price of a crafted sword but it could only price a sword if it was Q150 or above. Old or new crafting systems I have not seen a way of valuing anything except what the really good crafters make. Have seen weapons > q100 sold just for the cost of the materials. I give some of my blades to new people. The pitance Harnquist pays is not enough incentive to do business with him.

If I sell any I look at what Harnquist is selling for then add a bit to that price.
Beware the grue.
