Elady,
Yes would be good to have some changes on quests for lower lvl players, so they would get some pps easier. Still I think, on the first lvls not just the quest but the creatures should give more reward, so the player feels more confortable. Doing quest is not so hard, but not that easy either. If you are new might take a while to find who you want, or what you need. I just think of a more encouraging welcome to the newer players :D

Regards.-

Elady,
To be honest, when I just started the game, I had the lesser clue about dueling that you could imagine, I didnt even knew what was that. Dueling them, takes longer time, and besides you could die (wich happens easier if you are new to it), and then you are with the curse.
All this is about real new players. Most games have a bottom 10 lvls or such, were everything is much easier, so they get to understand the game, like it, like the rewards from their efforts, and then, they get into the harsh stuff. Of course, I am not saying someone shouldbe killing ulbernauts in 5 seconds, but get more pps, so you could experiment, in diferent skills till you know better your way around, and what you want, would be fantastic, as it was the other time, with my litle dwarf, I hardly could be buying skills for axe, and that is because I knew i wanted to use axes, what if the player doesnt know what he wants, and would like to experiment?.
For a player that has characters with high stats, or that has been in the game a long while already, the fact that a lower lvl character is hard to train, is just a boredom factor. But for someone that is totally new, is much more, could determine if they stay in game or not. Even more, when at certain hours there are not much players around, so a new player finds a game that is too hard in its startings, and noone around to talk to. Not nice starting.

Regards.-

Hey Elady, long time no see!!
Well, I meant a more significant diference than a tiny one.
The other day I created a new characted, wanted to try a dwarf, and was killling low lvl creatures for really long time, couldnt move from rats because the others would kill me, but the pps i was getting was very low, so I couldnt improve my skills enougth to kill harder creatures without unavoidable death :P
At least I know the game, but I could imagine a new player feeling discouraged by an experience like the one I had.

Thank you very much for the tip though! Was thinking on maxing my main character stats, but I am very low on pps, so will work on pps first!

Regards.-

General Discussion / Re: Why not just get rid of rp all together?
« on: January 19, 2011, 05:40:23 pm »
Well I think what he is pointing out, or aiming at, is that if you want to role play with some "real" backup, is going to be much harder now. Lets say you roleplay you are a mighty warrior, then you would like to have great stats and high lvl of sword and armor, so if you say you can kill great beast, you really kill them, just to give more realism to it.
Now with the changes, any mighty warrior is back again some sort of normal player, that has a long way to go, and if he wants to give backup to his roleplay he will have to give up to the roleplaying fo a while, so he can train.
Lets face it, when you play this type of game, many people actually like to train and do the things they say they do. If not you would just need a game with no stats or skills, and plain models that can move around. Really wouldnt be any need of world, or history or anything, because after all you are just making up everything.
I find it too, annoying that if you want to make a nice coherent roleplaying, you will need not to roleplay a long time, to train everything.

All this said, don't leave the game, as many said, people will settle down, and the players that rpg a lot will keep doing it!
In other hand, I think you feel frustration, because there is not improvement in sight for rpging.  Maybe you could think out something that would help make more people roleplay (I posted on the thread about New Trainers, an idea about something I think could help make the players interact more)

Regards.-

PS: Please don't say like what he posted about doesn't make sense. Because if there are some players that roleplay without the need of training, that doesnt mean that there are not other players that like to train, specially on what they like to roleplay about.
Different people likes to play in different ways, and a change like this affects the big group that actually likes to have maxed the stats that relate with the personality of their characters.

I have the feeling, this will just increment the amount of people that quits the game, now the goals are soo far away. And getting the money to train and the pps will be worse.
Someone pointed out in other post about giving more pps if you kill a rat, for example, if you are a lower lvl player. That would be great, like give more pps according on how challenging is for you the creature you are going to kill, that would certainly help new players.
In other hand, roleplaying a mighty warrior or a great magician, with some "real" basis, for new players is going to be out of charts, as it was now, took already, a terribly long time to do any of those things (and of course not to mention crafting).

I beleave something interesting to do, to make the game more fun for everyone, could be to choose certain players, specially ones that have played a long time, and are very active (and of course the comunity could vote to select them). And then, give them some "gm" abilities, so they could host events, or such, but without really being gms, like they could plan an event, and then they would get the gm powers that day (or maybe an alt character could get them), and then they host the event.
Afterwards the people could vote or give points about how they liked the event and such, and the player that gets more points (because his events were nicer or something of the sort), gets some reward.

I mean the training is not bad, and many find it fun, but to be honest, you kind of isolate yourself when you are doing it, and to train many skills is almost imposible to do anything else but really training that ability. I would think, something great to do, could be something that would make players interact more.

After all this said, I thank you for keep working on improve the game, and I hope you find my comments of interest.

PS: Sorry if I am not clear in some point, I will glady correct, sometimes i make mistakes in english.

I am totaly with you Under the moon, that would be very enjoyable i think, that is why i am for both extremes real RP or be able to really punish. What hapen is in an ankward middle.

10
Why private? I think this is public as concern and the way PS is played and the way players relate.

Yes they stole the plants too, cleaver thiefs, hehe.

11
Ok first of all sorry for my bad english.

I would like to point out a couple of things about this robbering to the EL guild house.

I do agree with the people is saying in real bad things hapen and you are robed and so, i think people is the same at any place they do evil and good stuff, they steal they kill.
So i really feel perfect about robberings and killing by evil chars, because that makes more interesting the game.

But the game has a big flaw that is always favoring the evil chars, and goes against the interest of real fun.

I do agree as i said in REAL you can being robbed without being told, but in REAL too if you want you can go against anyone you
find in the street and kill it because that one took your stuff.
So is unfair, the bad guys has advantage, the conditions of the game don't go in detriment of evil characters, is producing lack of heroes.

There was someone saying that each day the game becomes more barby's world like, because now things are guarded when you leave them on the floor, so noone can took them, i never had anything against someone can took something from the floor, what is unfair is that they do it for free, they have not punishment, soo we have this situation:

-Evil people can RP evil actions and DO evil actions
-And Good people all what can do is RP good actions, with not actual efect if the evil people doesn't agree to RP.

If i shouldn't need to ask for killing somone "can i kill you" and that someone should say "yes" (of course they will not)
No one ever would took sooo easily thigns from the floor of other people because they would have consequences.

Yes someone would say then the strong characters will steal everything of everyone and kill evryone, hello??
is not that REAL? if someone want to kill someone in REAL should ask to do it? what for are cops then?
IF somethign like that would hapen, i mean a Strong character harrasing weak ones, there we would need heroes,
other Strong Characters that will kill the Evil ones to safe the weaks, and guilds would have even more meaning for players
because that would be a brotherwhood against evil, or for evilness.

So is not fair that people is saying "this is what hapen in real" "you are robbed without being told", because noone can give a
"real" answer to such "real" like actions.

Now pointing to this like and IG actiong to roleplay, just admiting this is just RP, well is not bad RP just because all the things have been say.
This thiefs demostrated a real lack of logic or maybe a REAL big desire of anooy because they took EVERYTHING, not just Usefull things that they can sell, like a real thief would do, What the hell someone wants a book saying like "here is my stuff"?

So as a player that always helps others and is polite to the others as one of the messages of PS says, i reclaim a correction action from GMs, or allow us to kill everyone we want. Or this actions should be limited to just RP wich means not "real" stuff of game involved.
I think is the logic thing to do.

Someone else said that a RP like Kiaerulf pointed out would need insane amount of work, hem? i think RP means that you will work on it, is not for free, you are acting.
Its meant work.

Now i saw a gm or so said that not harrasment acts or such will tolerate in game, so the fair is that people should suffer bad things and then not do anything to correct them?
Or we are a complete barby's land like world, or we are completely REAL like, so we should be able to punish, or be regreat.

And all the fun that has been done in forums about this and about EL memembers, is not IG is OOC, so there is not RP.

We have suffered and evil action, we can not complain because there is people doing fun, we can not do a correction actoin because we will be punished, and even if we do this "correction" action will not be more than say "HEY You roobed me" and tht is all that is not compared to we have suffered.

Is about the money? or the stuff? no that has nto sense, is a game and is meant to be enjoyed this action is just unfair and just give pleasure to the thiefs that seems people really interested in meaningless things, because after all what is a tria? is somethign? worth to loose your good name for it? And people that enjoy comiting actions
that can not be punished.
Finaly this proposition of a Guild War in my opinion is not more than a distracting action, to say all was about an RP when was just a bad meant stealing.
Posts with images like "crime scene".

So just to end and repeat, i reclaim an answer a LOGIC answer from the team of PS.

Dzyann.-

PD: any weird expresion you can not understand i will explain happily.

14
Thanks, i did what you say althought i already did it before, but still works awfull i can not move well.
What else can i do?

I have a pc with AthlonXP 1800 (1500MHz), 1.25GB de RAM y Geforce 4 (64MB), and i can't play, is too slow, even with all the characteristic in the minimun level, i do not know why, because the minimun requeriments (A PIII 600Mhz with 512Mb of RAM and a Geforce 2 card  or PIII 1ghz with 512 RAM and a GeForce3) are less than my pc.
Some one could tell me if i have to buy a new Video Card or if is a problem with the game?
