And i vote for larger trees... and will not cry if we loose 3d grass indeed (ahh is it 3d indeed? I should look on it more closely, for i was thinking it's sprites)

eeh yes, and that shows you're quite good in english to use such functions  ::). Eeh. I don't use it? HELL!
Ssoo, that's not what's it's all about, LigH ))

And being an [beep]. is great too! No kidding! I like to see someone RPing an [beep]. A good fight at Kada-El's because of [beep]ing actions - isn't it's great ;D? I think that's no bad thing can come from RP if it make sence in the world you are RPing. I don't think that a HUMAN playing a diabolii will be insulted if someone call him a "stupid red horned humanoid" in reality? Right? Ssoo i don't mind if someone will be RPing an [beep]. No one actually wants to look like an [beep] in RL either.

Ssoo... [i'm still rapidly increase my english skills, so most of my posts start with "ssoo"]

I know that's a roleplaying game. I know it's not you, but your character acting in the world of Planeshift. But. I have an experience of board based RPGs, i used to play complete fools and idiots with INT<=6 of course. But. The DM and all of us knew i'm not and idiot in RL and enjoied my RP (RPing a stupid guy is not that easy you know). But. Planeshift is not a board based RPG. Thats MMORPG. Mates from USA, Britain, India, Ireland, France and the whole known world (sorry for not typing YOUR country here, but i'm limited in that thing) are playing this game. I've never been to the most countries listed. I don't know anyone playing this game in RL. And, what is the most important, they don't know me. Ssoo... Mates, HOW do you manage to play fools and don't feel shy about it? I've cheated: i have chosen to play Xacha, for they are smart. How do you stop yourself from acting smart? Most likely no one knows you here in RL. They can think you're playing an idiot because you ARE idiot. Well. Nevermind. I actually know how you do it. That's just a thankyoupost. Thank you for your RP, guys, sorry, will not list you here! Keep it going! The best GM i ever saw used to tell: it's all OK to RP when someone in a group can play an idiot and don't feel shy. I've seen the best fools, stupid guys, complete idiots, brain-damaged fellows here... sometimes i think they are even better then i saw in board games. The job you are doing can even be compared to the job the devs do, well maybe a little less (that's not an insult, devs, you know what i mean :innocent:). It's medieval setting and it is easy to role play a wise guy when you've readed Kafka and finished the high school. That does not actually require any IQ. Playing a dumb is a thing that require some IQ! Thank you once again...

Just  have returned from another little RP party )

Newbie Help (Start Here) / Quest crashed?
« on: December 22, 2007, 06:50:06 pm »
The problem is. I have a quest where i need to give an item from person1 to person2 and tell person2 that i was sent by person1. Alright, i gave item to person2, but then forgot the second step, and returned to person1. When i remembered what i was actually needed to do, it seems it was too late: nothing worked, even the simple everworking "person1 sent me". Emm... is there something i can do now? I can't even discard the quest!

I've registered on a bugtracker, but still recieved no reply, so...

Well... I've got it too today. And it does not seem to be linked somehow with map loading, for i keep 'em loaded and preload models too. And besides, all that stuff is happening inside the same sector. It looks like i'm making a step, and then my stamina goes down with exponentaly growing speed until it reaches 0. Then sometimes i can walk a bit with this zero. By the way, don't know if this matter, but i've got it after catching #542 (freeze spell bug).

2GB ram, GF8600gts,core2duo and so on...

What should i do now? Idimir has no wish to become an invalid for the rest of his days! :'( :'( :'( :(

[EDIT]
Maybe it will return to the normal state after someone will kill that clacker. It's still roaming the countryside i think...
[EDIT]
Problem explained and thus, solved :). T'was a server lag :P
Excuse for taking the thread up  :-[

The Hydlaa Plaza / Rules of a munchkin
« on: December 19, 2007, 10:21:16 am »
1. Never roleplay. Always remember - that's just a game and you're not an elf. There is a real world where is much things to do. Playing Lineage 2 24/7/48 is an example.
2. Always discuss what is cooler - WoW or L2
3. Being a noob is a shame
4. If a sentence contains more then 3 words, there always should be an abbreviation. Use it.
5. If a word constists of 6 letters, you MUST make at least 2 misstakes, the more the better, even if it's your native language
6. You're not a munchkin. You're just not a looser. Being a noob is a shame.
7. Always remember UO through you've never seen it
8. Always remember MUDs through you don't know what is it
9. RPG is a game where you gain skills and items by killing something
10. Use brackets while speaking IC!
11. Speaking IC is a shame. Those who speak IC are noobs. Being a noob is a shame.
12. Telling "lol" is an act of iteraction for hardcore gamers
13. Reverse to 12: always tell "lol" to be a hardcore gamer
14. Long sentences of IC speech is a flood. Those who use it must be banned.
15. "Unique character" is a character with green hair
16. Have Fun. Not being a noob is Fun. Being a noob is a shame.
17. You must be a fan of game you playing. You must speak about it's setting and world's history. You must not take care of it when playing.
18. Lag is a catastrophe
19. Killing old npc ladies in game is wrong for they usually have no loot
20. Use capslock. That makes your words a bit more noticeable
21. Those who use long sentences and no abbreviations should be considered NPC
...
that's all for now

Wish list / Re: Templated sentences

but here I find it counterproductive. Sure it's easy but isn't it much better to practice your language typing than just pressing a button and learning nothing? :P

Anyways, I wouldn't mind having this feature but I doubt I'll ever use it myself.

You got it :D

That is just for actions, not conservations, and just for those wich is used often. If player is not so good with english, he rarely puts more then 2-3 words into his actions - it's hard to learn something this way. Conservation is a more specific things, you repeat the same sentence not so often, and it's somehow much easylier to think out, don't ask me why it's so.

There is a difference. In the first case you have 5-10 templates every one containing any number of action variants, in the latter - 50-100 shortcut for just a few action types. And after a few hours playing you'll find the one you think the best one and will start using it almost all the time, while in the first case it will always be random

Wish list / Re: DR Sickness "debuff" length

Oh. I should guess  :-[
Thank's for the explanation. Idimir, say thank you!
>Idimir says: thank you, Draklar
>Idimir nods
Good boy

[edit]
But the riddle is still a noncence :P
[edit]
>Idimir takes a seat
>Idimir says:Wait. There's more to go...
>Idimir says:Why do we kill all the monsters roaming the countryside? Do they attack us? Even if they do, does it matter? Well, consumers maybe - thouth there is no precedents registered when it poisons someone to permanent death, according to the theory that they come from the Wells, it can someday happen. But what about others? Those little cute clackers? And other, maybe a bit ugly, but still harmless creatures?
>Idimir knits his brow
>Idimir says: trias
>Idimir stands up
>Idimir's voice becomes louder
>Idimir says: trias and experience
>Idimir says: we, so called "sentient races" are all the same, having no respect to what surrounds us, we're killing them just for wealth and nothing more. What if they will someday dissapear from Ylliakum? What shall we show to our children? They will read of a clacker in Hydlaa's library and will be asking us: pap, show me a clacker! And you'll have to answer: "i'm sorry, child, i'm killed the last one", fearing if he'll ask "why?" because you have no answer!
>Idimir shouts: shame upon you, sentients!

And ther IS another big trouble with a setting when it describes the process of dieing. You see, according to it, you AND your body goes to the Death Realm and then revives. But then how to explain a well known fact about the bureal wells, in wich corpses are dropped? Well i hope i didn't get it wrong... if i did, please correct me, for it means my poor schoolar has missed some very important fact about the world he lives in.

Yes, and btw. Remember that riddle about xacha going to be hanged or beheaded? So, again according to the setting, it is complitely pointless, for she would wish to be hanged to have her head on the neck after returning from DR.

emm, not exacly... i cannot have a dosen of laughs on my shortcut bar, and even if i'll put there only 3-4 of them, there are also can be scratching my head, looking uncerainly, drinking (!),  and so on. I think i'll spend even more time searching for the required shortcut. Maybe i'm asking for too much, but no one actually restricted asking, am i wrong? Or at least there could be a multiple variants of action linked to the same shortcut.

Wish list / Templated sentences
« on: December 17, 2007, 02:30:19 pm »
Well you know there's many non-native speakers playing PS. Me is an example. So i'm tired typing "/me laughs" all the time Idimir wishes to laugh. I want to type different types of laughing, maybe multiple lined. But i really cannot do that, 'cause it takes much more time from me to make even an almost correct sentence in comparsion with native english speakers. And so people has to wait for Idimir to laugh, or it will be to late for Idimir to laugh, and poor Darhark will have to erase all he had already typed. That doesn't do much good to roleplay, of course. So here's my suggestion: to implement a client-side feature of creating the templated sentences. For example:

first i'm making a template "laugh":
#template laugh /me <looks at $target <curiosly|> and|><<starts to|begins to>laugh|laughs>

then i target Aldaaren, type #laugh, and Idimir or "looks at Aldaaren and laughs", either "begins to laugh", either just "laughs", either something else depending on template.

There's always a chance, of course, that the feature will be overused, but i think it will be used just in situations that happen often, not specific, so the roleplay will not loose and even win something.
