Before I begin, it should be noted that this applies to all female characters, not necessarily players. I suppose it could be about male characters too, but I haven't experienced them exhibiting the behaviour described below.

Dear Female Characters,

Leather armour looks like this:

It is not skin tight, revealing every curve of your Laanx-sculpted body. It is not hoplessly revealing and cut so that your cleavage shows through to tempt all those that of the male variety that walk by. That would be latex:

If you stab any one of those ladies, their clothing will rip, they will bleed, then they will die. And so will you, if you are dressed like that.

Now, I'm not saying you should not dress like that. That's wholly your option, and I support your decision 100%. But stop kidding yourself. You're not wearing leather armour and it affords you no protection. It does however, afford you a dominant look when you stand over your masochistic partner as he grovels at your feet begging his mistress to do her will.

Sincerely,

Someone who has tired of your nonsense.

P.S. Kaerli, no, you can't look "still beautiful" when you're built like a tank, scarred to hell, carrying at least three times your weight (which is considerable, and almost all muscle, so no nice curves) in weapons and armour. If I think armour is beautiful, I'll marry one of the guards in Bronze Doors, thank you.

I think you are completly underestimating the perception abilities of the people in game.

For example, when I think of leather armour, I think of the picture you showed in the OP. Likewise, I am only able to process so many physical characteristics of someone I see on the street.

However, on any given evening in the tavern, I can process up to 3,4, or even 5 pages worth of information on someone in a matter of minutes. It's like I'm reading a novel on the character I'm looking at, and they are telling me what I see, from that birthmark 1 1/2 in. diameter on their right arm, to the distant look in their eye that says their mom didn't hug them enough. it is truely remarkable.

So I guess what I'm saying is, you simply underestimated your senses, and what may seem like major curves under that armor could, in reality, be very slight

Quote

Yes but, Planeshift isn't a videogame...nor popular. It's a cesspit filled with men playing women in skin-tight latex outfits.

No comment on the first half, but basically my own thought process on the 2nd

In the sense of buying and selling, yes, we are a Merchant guild. However, the buying occurs in-house. Meaning that we can regulate prices and control the inventory because (mostly) everything is produced inside the guild.

I'll just go ahead and post the rest so I am making some sense.

I've been part of a few guilds in my day. It seems the basic principal in the generic guilds goes something like this. "If you care about the guild whatsoever, you will show it by donating money, donating items, and donating any services you have to offer. In return, you will gain ranks in the guild". This statement is covered up by half a page of jibberish about history and honor. With the exclusion of very few (Akaiddo and yourself).

This isn't Goodwill, believe me, we're in it to win it.

However, when you keep everything inhouse, and you give proper incentives to the people in the guild making it happen, you don't have to screw all your customers. These incentives will be posted later. However, I'm still looking to improve the system as best I can before I post it on here.

Circle of Commerce Mission Statement--

The Circle of Commerce is an Organization devoted to the ever expanding market that IS Hydlaa. While still promoting a competitive market, we will strive to offer the best, most diverse merchandise you can find anywhere in town. The welfare of the community around us will take top priority in the Circle as we look to improve not only our buisness, but the welfare of the people around it. We  hope this will become evident through our responsible members and our reasonable prices.

Circle of Commerce Overview--

At first glance, the Circle of Commerce may seem very broad, or too complicated, when in fact it is very simple. We are a guild with one goal in mind. To find, hunt, and craft everything we need, turn it into a product that the public demands, and sell that product. All of which is done in house to cut out the middle man. Which we all know lowers the price.

Inside the Circle of Commerce--

If you are in the buisness of mining, hunting, melting, crafting, fishing, or selling, the Circle of Commerce is always looking for new members.
EXPECTATIONS:
1.First and foremost, you are expected to behave in a manner that reflects who we are and what we strive for, as stated in the Mission Statement.
2. The Circle prides itself in promoting personal gain and skill development in ALL of it's members, no matter what those skills may be. However, if we are to accomplish our goals as a guild, sacrifices will be made by each and every member. If this can be accomplished, we will prosper.
3. Greed and Selfishness will not be tolerated by any member, no questions asked.

Benefits of joining the Circle
--
For those of you working independendtly and considering membership, do not fret. This is not a Communist organization. We want nothing more then to see you grow in your profession. If you join, you can expect to accumulate just as much wealth with us as you did alone, if not more. Along with the added perks of being part of a guild.

Guild Structure
--
The guild consists of three parties: The Tevease, The Uleen, and the Executives. Members will follow the pathway of either the Tevease, or the Uleen. The leaders are the Executives. There can be up to 3. The number one requirement is that they do not favor one party.

This is explained further in ranks.

CCs
--
In the Circle of Commerce, we cannot buy our members items at "full price". This leaves no room to profit for the guild. However, there are 2 major benefits finnancially for joining the guild.

1. Though we may not buy the product at as high a price as someone else in town. Being a member of the guild means that there will always be a buyer for your product. No matter whether it is ore, stock, weapons, skins, or anything else. You no longer have to search for a buyer.

2. Everytime you sell your products to one of our merchants to be resold, you are given "Commerce Credit" (or "CCs"). How many CCs you get is determined by the difference between the buying price (from you) to the selling price (To the customer).

Example: If a Circle of Commerce crafter sells me 4 axes for 10,000 tria, and we resale those axes for 15,000 tria, the Circle of Commerce crafter has earned 5,000 CCs.

So, What are CCs?
--
Think of CCs as our own personal form of currency. The only restriction is that they cannot be used in a transaction with someone not in the guild. Other than that, they can be used in place of tria (or for tria) whenever you are dealing with another guild member.

Also, on a side note, the number of CCs in the guild is equal to the amount of tria in the guild coffers. The more tria we have, the more CCs we have, and vice versa.

[Note: CCs are handled in the place of "guild points" in the guild menu, therefore, when CCs trade hands an Executive just be informed to change them accordingly}

What are they worth?
--
Before any guild expenses are made, the number of CCs will be equal to how much tria we have as a guild. For whatever reason, if that number goes down (Expenses, selling for less then we are buying..) then the value of CCs will go down. If that number goes up (Donations, buying and selling of outside merchandise..) then the value of CCs increases.. theoretically.

What do you get with CCs?
--
Well, CCs are needed to progress through the ranks in the Circle of Commerce. Hence, there value. Therefore, you can do whatever you wish with them inside of the guild.

Ranks

Ahh, good to see some other fighting competitians being brought.

Hydlaa needs a sport.

However, you have no problem with 20 people being slaughtered at one event, yet stand opposed to animal abuse?

You might just come out and say you don't want the speed boost. ;)

Overview

The overall concept of The Coliseum is actually quite simple. It will be a guild where fighters can join (But are not required to), along with trainers, book keepers, etc. The fighters who join the guild are on much more of a stable ground salary wise, as in, fighters in the guild will receive pay win or lose. (But are expected to win) Fighters in the guild also also receive unlimited access to trainers (No, not the kind that give you skills, just as swordsmanship, the kind that give you advice, prep you for a fight, etc) These fighters also receive extra access to in guild media. Such as interviews. However, note that if a fighter wishes to join, fighting is your JOB, not your hobby that gets you tria now and then, this is what you DO. And it is my job to make it worth your while.

There is no set salary for every fighter, if you are good, you will get more money. If you win, you will get more money. Simple, right? The vast majority of the fights will be non-lethal, however, if an agreement can be reached by both fighters, then we will set a sudden death fight. Literally. Loser is no longer allowed to fight in the Coliseum.

I don't want to resort to charging everyone who wants to watch a fight tria to get in. First off, it would be impossible to control, second, no one would show up. So here's the deal:

Fights

The fights will not be a one-and-done kind of deal. We will have up to 4 fights scheduled per fight date. (bets will only be taken on the main event) We will have a main event in which the best match-up of the evening will be featured. This will receive most of our attention, and this is the one you would show up for.. in theory. (Exceptions would be like going to be Kimbo Slice fight. He sucks, and you know he is gonna get his *** beat, but you want to watch anyway)

Fight Details

One fight will consist of three rounds. We will assign a referee (Trainer pathway) that will study the fighters for any sign of cheating. Such as using potions or spells. The round will continue until one fighter manages to knock the other fighter down and disarm him, or the round has been too long without any offense shown by either fighter, then the referee will declare a stalemate, in which we will pick a winner based on their injuries (Health). If a fighter wins the first two rounds, the fight is over, if the wins are split, we will go to the third round. As mentioned, there will be NO KILLING unless permitted before the fight.

Gambling

Betting on fights is just like betting on boxing. The numbers represent how much of a favorite, or underdog the fighters are. The Coliseum will closely examine the fighters and determine the odds of the fight. If a -5000 is next to someones name, they are a 5:1 favorite. If there is a +1500 next to someones name, they are a 1.5:1 underdog. Your odds are much worse if you bet on the +1500 guy, but there is much more profit.

Example

So, here is another example.

Jeff Smith: -5000

Frank Brown:+1500

Bettors who wager on Smith will have to risk $5000 to win $1000, while bettors who wager on Brown are asked to risk $1000 to win $1500.

If the number has a "-" that is the favorite to win the fight. If the number has a "+" that is the underdog. Simple as that. The betting system is built around 1000s. If you wanted to bet on Jeff, you would have to bet 5000 to get 1000 in return. If you bet on Frank, 1000 tria would get you 1500. It is quite simple when you think about it. Once you get into "+" that means you are doubling your profit and then some. -1000 and +1000 mean the same thing.

So.. say someone came up to me and wanted to bet 30,000 tria on Frank. First, they would pay their 2,000 tria entry fee. This is to ensure that we don't lose money on the situation, and that people don't bet 50 tria, for example.

So, then, they would lay down their 30,000. Frank is the +1500 underdog, and he pulls the upset. That means that the better made a 150% profit of 45,000. They are given back a total of 75,000 tria.

Now, let's say a different better bet 30,000 on Jeff, Jeff is the -5000 favorite, which means for every tria 5 tria you bet, you get 1 in profit. So if you bet 30,000, you would get 6,000 profit. A total of 36,000 tria in return.

If anyoen still doesn't get it, just look up "How to bet on boxing". it is the same thing.

Edit

Due to the fact that the gambling system will be our main source of income, I have, unfortunately, come to the conclusion that in order to provide more economical stability, we must charge 2,000 tria per bet. Meaning, if you would like to bet 8,000, you must pay the 2,000 entry fee + 8,000. The 2,000 tria going directly to the pocket of the Coliseum.

Ranking system

As previously stated, we are a very loosely bound guild, with different members with different tasks. For this reason, I have decided to once again use the 3-branch pathway system. (Which I came up with, and was copied by other guilds at that time :()

What this means is, a trainer will follow a different pathway then a fighter. Anyway, here it is.

Three pathways:

Fighter- Self explanatory. Fighters who win rise through the ranks. (Note: Fighters who are in a guild and choose not to join do not follow the ranks. They simply find a worthy opponent inside or outside the guild)

Trainer- My personal favorite. This is for people who teach technique, do errands for the fighters, scan the fighters for their skills (NEED SOMEONE FOR THIS!), etc.

Book Keeper- Coliseum doesn't exist without these guys. They will keep up with who bets what, keep records of fighters, write summaries of the fights, and record interviews for public pamphlets about the Coliseum.

Ranks

Fighter
--

Gladiator- You are the average fighter in the coliseum. Don't expect a main event

Hero- You are the elite. You Will be in main events, and will receive more salary then the rest of the fighters of the night.. combined.

World Champion- There will be only one per fighting style. (Melee, swords, axes, etc) A person who uses swords can fight a person who uses axes, but that will not be a title fight. Every once in a while, we will determine the two best fighters per style, and host a title fight to find the best of the best. Once again, large saley boost.

Trainer
--

Trainer- The average person who does one of the mentioned trainer tasks. Receives pay based on amount of work put into a fight (From announcement, to cleanup)

Enforcer- The trainers that have been around a while, know their task, and do it effeciantly. You will be given more important tasks at this level, and will be in charge of closely watching others, and making sure everything runs smoothely.

Book Keeper
--

Book Keeper- The average person who does one of the mentioned book keeper tasks. receives pay based on amount of work put into a fight. (From announcement, to cleanup)

Librarian- They will look after the book keeping and make sure things are recorded to my expectations. They are paid by amount of time dedicated to Coliseum.

Overseer

This rank is for the best of the book keepers and trainers. We will vote on all important issues, and there will be no more then 6 at a time.

If you verbally abuse the people who consistently manage to mess up RP by going against every setting ever made, they will either sink (Leave the game) or swim (Learn to Rp right)

And don't tell me this is a bad method. I turned out Ok, didn't I?  ;)
