A Planeshift Curseword
« on: December 30, 2009, 08:52:04 pm »
Sorry, I didn't know where else to post this, so I chose here.

Do you ever have the need to curse to emphasize the situation or include the note of seriousness but can't since it doesn't make sense in the PS world? I am talking specifically about the h*** or, in its PG-form, heck. The equivalent DR, doesn't seem as powerful, as "heck" is for the d*****, and is a horrible proposition, while the death realm is just an inconvenience. On another note, Death Realm, is too long a curse word, while DR sounds too ooc. To summarize, I am looking for an in-setting word to replace the h*** in "running like h***."

Note: This is a serious question. I don't want random answers like tuna or farshnic.

PS: A bowdlerized form might be a good settings addition.

rig the words proposed in that link sounds luke something i wouldve said when i was 7

and hell isn't much of a curse word

just make somrthing up that sounds harsh and see if it catches on. irl curse words sound pretty stupid. i'm pretty sure yliakum has about the same curse words anyway. they do speak english after all.

Sarras wrong they speak "Common", the Lemur language that for ease of use and convenience is 'English'.... it's safe to say none of the slang or so on is English, and that the language is a case of convergant rather than divergant development, ie, they are similar due to circumstance rather than because of a similar origin.

they speak english. yliakum isn't real. we're speaking oocly. so far "common" sounds a lot like my english, so im going to assume nearly all the usual words are the same.

Hell probably wouldn't be used in Yliakum, because hell does not exist to them, the Death Realm serves that end.

Crap, S***, loser, moron etc., can.

hell only means underworld/afterlife.  so i'd imagine it exists in yliakum too. christianity just happens to have a more specific meaning for it. i bet most players here are christians or think about the bible's version when they hear the word hell. but that's because it's just what we're brought up to associate it with irl.

Open to interpretation.

I just stick to the basics and what would seem real to me.

I'd much rather say hell and get flamed then say that...  :whistling:

an ugly person could be called a grendol... lol

these suggestions are just rude things to say, not curse words. it's just hard to make fake curse words because then they lose the flavor of real curse words. they sound silly.

I looking for a specific cruse word to fit that spot, not a range. That's why I made it a different topic.
