Your computer is probably just too slow to load the world properly.  Last I remember there were issues with Intel processors specifically (I haven\'t been to this site in a while, though.  Things could have changed)

What are your computer\'s specs?  I\'ve had trouble with anything below 2 GHz and 256mb ram.  Please read the big sticky at the top of this forum asking you to post this information...

Well, several posts have already pointed out the problems PS has running under a Windows OS.  Linux seems to allow a smoother game.

I have XP and it runs fine, but I also have 512 MB ram, so...I have the spare memory.

128 mb ram is definately not gaming friendly...try upgrading if you can.

GetRight is an okay download manager, so if you become disconnected from the internet, it\'s less of a headache because the download resumes from where it is left off.

If you can\'t even download the GetRight installation file, then there is an even smaller file you can get which will download the GetRight exe file in segments (I think), which should make it faster.

Whew.  Can you say \"off topic\"? :o

As for the download page, it\'s a bit of a misnomer.  It takes you to the part of the site where you download banners and such.

Follow the link earlier up to go to the place where you can download the client itself.

Add this line to the file \"psclient.cfg\":
System.PlugIns.iBugPlug = crystalspace.utilities.bugplug

It should then show the fps counter during the game.  :)

Well, it\'s still in the development stages, so they\'re still figuring out what the system requirements should be exactly. :p

I\'d say they\'re fairly high, though.  With my computer, which has a 1.4 GHz Pentium 4 Processer, I can\'t even run the stupid executable without killing the computer.  Although it doesn\'t have the best graphics card in the world (nVidia TNT2 pro 32MB), it should still be suitable.

I can run it fairly well on this computer, a 2.4 GHz Pentium4 with 32 megs shared video memory (the computer has 512 MB DDR ram).

Good luck. :)

I think as more and more people tell their firneds about this great game, more and more people are going to jump in to see what its about (even though it\'s still in its early stages).

As the population slowly grows, more rude folks will pop up.  Sadly, as long as more people sign up, there will be an increasing proportion of people with no manners. :(

I always try to be nice, though... :)

http://www.planeshift.it/download_client.html

You have to download all six files, run the reassembler, then run the executable file created.

Go to the list of links at the top of the main page, head to Download ==> Client
Be careful, though!  This game can severely lag less powerful computers.  And keep in mind this is pre-alpha, so only one town and one dungeon exist yet.  Just don\'t go berserk thinking it\'s a full game and finding out otherwise.

Other than that, happy playing!  :)

Someone had posted a similar query and unfortunately, they got the same response:
Try downloading it again.

Did you use a download manager like GetRight or Mozilla?  When you download segments using these, it can mess up the files on occassion.

Sorry I can\'t be of more help. :(

Comp 1:
processor brand: Intel Pentium 4
processor speed: 2.66 GHz
amount of main memory: 512 MB ddr ram
graphiccard brand: unknown
graphiccard chip: SiS651 Integrated Graphics with Real256? 2D/3D Graphics Accelerator (edit: My boyfriend told me that its integrated in the motherboard, so no upgrades for me :,()
amount of memory on graphiccard: 32 MB shared memory (64MB max)
operating system: Windows XP home version
average fps: 7.00 in open spaces (lots of processing needed)
16.00-25.00 in closed spaces (chapel/subterranian dungeon)
Also depends on movement speed and actions taken, of course.

Comp 2:
processor brand: Intel Pentium 4
processor speed: 1.3 GHz
amount of main memory: 120 RD RAM
graphiccard brand: unknown again
graphiccard chip: nVidia TNT2 PRO
amount of memory on graphiccard: 32 MB
operating system: Windows XP professional edition
average fps: .2
On this computer, I never got past the World Initialization.  It just killed my computer and my processor started dying and crying out in agony.  ?.?;

Both were in 640x480, 16-bit.
