I don\'t fully understand the internals of the PS server but it DOES need to be fully aware of the 3d area to do collision checking and bounds checking, your client can also perform these tasks but if the server was not aware of what was happening you could for instance walk through walls. Also the monsters need to know about them for the pathing system, if a mob cannot see a wall it would be hard to find a legal path to you.

This will get to be a lot more polished as the program moves into later beta stages, what you see right now is basiclly proof of existance that PS is not vaporware and is advancing with good progress.

Good luck!

General Discussion / Thanks to the PS development team
« on: June 12, 2003, 08:54:54 pm »
This is my first post here, I don\'t play planeshift but I have followed it for a long time (Because I am intrested in crystal space) and would like to take a moment to congratulate the PS development team on creating a very well built application.

I have looked over many parts of the code and really like the way the whole thing is put together, its really inspring to see programs like this (To me anyway). Are there any openings on the development team for c++ programmers still?

Either way, Good job and keep it up!
