Linux server
« on: June 13, 2003, 11:02:13 am »
Hi,

I\'m behind the firewall of my university so i can\'t connect to the official Planeshift server.
I would like to create a LAN server in order to test Planeshift.

1) I tried to install the entire game but i dunno how to uninstall the libvorbis0 (conflict with libvorbis0a) witch is needed by KDE...

OR

2) How can i compile or install the linux server ONLY (no need to install the entire game).

(I use a debian woody...)

thx
Dedef

You can try just:

 jam psserver

You still need to setup the mysql stuff as well. There should be info in docs/Compiling.txt about that.

jam psserver
./Jamconfig: No such file or directory
Could\'nt find config. Please run \'configure\' first !

./configure
checking for cs-config... no
Crystal Space couldn\'t be found

are CEL and Crystal Space necessary to run the server ???

I don\'t fully understand the internals of the PS server but it DOES need to be fully aware of the 3d area to do collision checking and bounds checking, your client can also perform these tasks but if the server was not aware of what was happening you could for instance walk through walls. Also the monsters need to know about them for the pathing system, if a mob cannot see a wall it would be hard to find a legal path to you.

LinkApplication map2cs
./out.linuxx86/optimize.libs/csutil/libcsutil.a(archive.o)(.text+0xd36): In function \'csArchive::ReadEntry(_IO_FILE*, csArchive::ArchiveEntry*)\': undefined reference to \'inflateInit2_\'
