btw, bittorrent is terribly unusable for 56k users as we are hammered constantly with upload. Our download then ends up crawling to fractions of kb/sec on many downloads.

Hang on.. so is this alpha testing for the beta release? In which case you would perform alpha testing then beta testing for the beta release?
OR is it alpha testing for the final game, in which you would perform alpha testing, beta testing then have the actual *full release*

I\'ve got a few ideas to kick around.

I want to see aging of characters and death :P No character should be able to live forever!

I also like the idea of not being able to tell the exact abilities of a creature. Perhaps after you have killed it and have a vetinary skill you can find out?

I don\'t like picking costume, I think costume should be picked up as you progress or created.

A tricky problem I\'ve seen, is balancing of the game for hardcore and casual gamers. I suppose for this game it may not be as much as a problem as many more would be RPing. So the people who don\'t care about \'level\'s and \'grinding\' just don\'t and those that do, do. I don\'t know..

An idea for quests which I\'ve already voiced and Venge has thrown in my face is one for in game quests writers. They team up with a programmer and write. Much like radio ad makers who storm up 30 in an hour and such. Anyway.. they sit in the game and write them out and people come to them for them. The programmer has some dev tools to help him achieve functionality quickly, CASE tools and such... Sure, the quests are alot less frequent .. but eh.. it SOUNDS like an alright idea to me, even though totally impractical.

Technical Help: Problems BEFORE entering the game / rh9 build planeshift
« on: August 18, 2003, 10:22:16 am »
How do I check if the planeshift/src/client/ directory is compiled and how do I compile it
I ran the buildplaneshift.sh script and it created no errors, except at the end about MySql database. But when I run run.sh it says

./psclient: line 52: src/client/psclient: No such file or directory

Which is true, because it isnt there.. and in the directory /src/client/planeshift there are a whole lot of cpp\'s and headers..

admin              cmdusers.h   modehandler.cpp   psengine.cpp
authentclient.cpp  cmdutil.cpp  modehandler.h     psengine.h
authentclient.h    cmdutil.h    paws              psnetmanager.cpp
aws                cvs          pscelclient.cpp   psnetmanager.h
cmdadmin.cpp       gui          pscelclient.h     psversion.h
cmdadmin.h         iclient      psclientchar.cpp  rpgrules
cmdguilds.cpp      Jamfile      psclientchar.h    sound
cmdguilds.h        Makefile.am  psclientdr.cpp    zonehandler.cpp
cmdusers.cpp       Makefile.in  psclientdr.h      zonehandler.h

So does it mean that the directory has not been compiled? Is there a log of the process that I can check maybe?

Technical Help: Problems BEFORE entering the game /

There seems to be a common problem among redhat users, of which I am one of. It seems that cvs isnt installing everything that is required..  I am missing the gl3d files, the cdjpimg, the freefnt2 the libcspng.. etc.. theres a few.
What should we do to get these extra files?

I also got this error
/root/molblue/CS/include/csutil/csdllist.h:25:3: warning: #warning csDLList is deprecated. Please use csList from csutil/list.h
i think thats where it skipped files.. and it did it all over the shop
