Mac OSX Specific Issues /

Nevermind. Just saw another post that says \"don\'t use the updater\", contrary to the instructions in the sticky post.

Might I suggest that the sitcky post be updated to remove the instruction to use updater.jar, so other people don\'t waste their time?

Downloaded latest .dmg from mirror.
Followed instructions in sticky for using updater.jar (for 10.4) to update files. No errors, updated appeared to complete with no problems.

Neither pssetup.app nor psclient.app will launch from Finder. Attempt to launch pssetup.app/Contents/MacOS/pssetup from Terminal results in:

\"WARNING: could not load plugin \'crystalspace.kernel.vfs\'
 * This likely means that the plugins could not be found.
If you\'re a user: Check the working directory the application starts from -
usually, it is the same as the directory with the executable.
If in doubt, contact the vendor.
If you\'re a developer: Check if the CRYSTAL environment var points to the
correct location - usually the directory CS was built in.
ERROR: csInitializer::SetupConfigManager failed!
Is your CRYSTAL environment variable set?\"

There is nothing in the sticky post relating to \'crystalspace.kernel.vfs\'.

I am running 10.4.5.

Ideas?

So I followed the instructions from various threads to try and get PS running on my 17\" AlBook (10.4.2). BTW, you might want to put a blurb in the main Mac setup instructions about where to get the newer Java stuff that updater.jar requires; I had to search for it in a different thread.

Anyway, after following the instructions and using the updater jar app to do the update, PS will launch but I still can\'t connect to the server. It\'s possible it\'s a firewall issue, but I doubt it; we don\'t generally block any outbound connections.

Running the psclient from the command line produced the following result, some of which looks suspicious to me, so I\'d like to get your take on it:

That being said, the code base works on Mac, the client will connect to our servers, etc.  It is really up to Apple at this point.

Vengeance,

I fail to see how it can be totally Apple\'s problem. There are a number of other OpenGL games for the Mac that run with no performance issues.
