Technical Help: Problems BEFORE entering the game /

you\'d have to strip out the origional os (you really think M$ wants you to do this when they will practally sue linux to death is they had the chance?).  personally i\'d probably run it off of some form of CD, hard drives are the slowest part in a pc.  after that, running it should be a sinch.  as for the ram problem, it actually should work decent enough with the stock 128, you can upgrade that if you want but say good by to your warrenty

i use windows 98, first edition.
that newly suggested key config could work i guess, i think though i might still slide back into the fps way of playing which would royaly screw me in a bad situation  :)

moogie, run is defaulted to shift, and i\'d like to keep it there cause its comfortable (i\'ve played alot of fps games).  typing is not the only thing shift if used for, not to mention using capslock generates twice as much work, especially when the shift key should work in the first place

actually i beleave i\'ve tried both, with no luck.  but even if the right one works, any key combo with shift would be just plain awkward

Technical Help: IN GAME bugs (after loading world) / Shift key doesn't work
« on: December 27, 2004, 06:49:12 am »
I\'ve found the shift key doesnt work in PS on a standard qwerty 104 key keyboard.  I know it worked in MB and it works elsewhere, but not in CB.  Anyone have an idea as to why and possably how to fix it?  Thanks

open source, personally means there will be less cheating imo.  as far as bug exploits, they will be fixed as they are found hopefully, especially if everyone able can help in fixing them.  as far as other cheats, i\'ve rarely found many cheats for a mmo that are really worth it.  really, how freggan useful is a wall hackin an mmo, and what guarentees that it will work a week down the line when 75 new bug fixes have come out?

on the topic of release dates, i\'d prefer not knowing.  how many games are delayed for months, pissing off people?  SB lost almost half of its fan base because it was released a year or more behind the release date.  better to not know and be anxious than be disappointed

icefalcon please, do your reserch, i\'m very close to telling you to stfu.

DAOC had realm vs realm, and although it wasnt a full seige system, it was a start.  Shadowbane had a full seige system and it worked damn well.  first off, by seiges taking more than a day i ment you declare a seige (basically place the bane on a tree in SB).  then there is a 3 day countdown in which the attacker tries to weeken the enemy but cant destroy the town compleately until the three days are up.  this gives you 3 days to plan your time to actually be on, and trust me people will be on.  and stragizing is half the fun, the trick is to try to time it when your guild will be on and the defenders will not.

as far as the realism, today\'s computer\'s cant give you that.  they are just too damn slow to give you a grand terrain scean and thousands of people hacking and slashing etc, but a few hundred at a time they can do

way back to the armor vs arrows discussion, armor can repel normal arrows, if constructed properly, but are defenceless to armor piercing arrows.  note crossbows fire bolts, not arrows and almost always pierce armor (my crossbow can pierce 3 layers of titanium chainmail)

if destructable towns were allowed, again i think it should borrow from shadowbanes system where seiges actually take real life days from begining to end, not minutes
