Actually, if you did a little research, you would realize that muzzle-loaded weapons didn\'t \"killl their target with the first shot\" on a very regular basis--actually, most shots missed, and the ones that did hit usually struck in the groin. One of the most common battle wounds during the US Civil War was a hit to the gonads. This was because of the tremendous kick of the rifles, which would cause the barrel to raise while firing, so to compensate, the soldiers were told to aim low so that they would hit the torso. Most soldiers overcompensated, and the result was frequent castration via mini ball.

Your initial email application to join the team wasn\'t even supposed to include a quest submission, and any assignments you DO work on for the team are supposed to be confidential (which means posting them in a public forum is a bad idea.

We can\'t box in creativity and expect it to remain vivacious and elastic. If we stamp PlaneShift with the label of \"Fantasy\" and say, \"There. You are a fantasy game, so grow up and act like a fantasy game!\" then we are stifling the creative potential of the game. I am wholeheartedly with Kuiper on this one. I think it would be a refreshing change to play a fantasy MMORPG with musket guns in it, and I don\'t feel it would hurt the game at all.

Using guns to cause long-range damage isn\'t any more of a \"first-person shooter\" experience than shooting them with bows, crossbows, or combat magic. Damage is damage, and since musket guns did exist in medieval times on Earth, we should be open-minded and original enough to break the mold and make a fantasy game which has them in it.

I think this is a great idea, but I have a question.

How would you keep others from jumping into the middle of your production and disrupting things?

Well, I suppose you could argue that it leads nowhere (obviously, for you did)...but I would hope that everyone would try to be socially, culturally, and ethnically conscious. In a perfect world, I suppose they would.

Personally, if I were a black person, I would be offended by it even more than I already am. What happens when the developers start to introduce PC clothing? A Kran puts on a white robe, and what do you have? A walking, moving, playable image of a KKK member.

Throw in some burnable crosses and some nooses while you\'re at it. Let\'s go for that total immersion everyone is always talking about.

I would delete it if I could, but I don\'t know how...also, isn\'t there any way to make it more obvious if there\'s been a previous posting on a topic? I did a search, but that one didn\'t show up for me.

I didn\'t realize there were so many Klan supporters posting to this forum.

Nice...real nice. Why do I feel like I just stepped into a room full of eleven-year-olds?

You\'ve got a \"clan\" of pale, pointy-headed critters called \"The Kran.\" It sounds and looks too much like \"The Klan\" (as in the KKK) for me.

LOL that\'s too funny. Somebody with some advanced skills should revamp (pardon the pun) this killerbunny and use it in the game. I\'d like to write a quest to go with it: The Killerbunny Crystal Quest -- a full group is required, all between the levels of 50 and 55. Bring along lots of healing and speed potions, and be sure everyone knows how to run in a circle!

Wish list / No Spam in my PlaneShift, if you please

I posted this to an old thread a few days ago (the one where Vengeance answered some questions about the upcoming CB release), but nobody responded, so I\'m re-posting it here.

(Regarding things I like about PS):

And, of course, I like the fact that it\'s free, and that it\'s guaranteed to stay that way. There is one concern I have in this department, though--what about advertisements? There\'s nothing in any of Planeshift\'s documentation, agreements, or licenses that says they can\'t sell advertising space, and I wouldn\'t put it past anybody (especially anybody from a capitalist nation, such as my own) to pull in some profits for the \"Non-profit organization,\" start pocketing a salary, and let the gamers suffer with in-game advertisements.

Can anybody put this fear to rest? I won\'t believe it\'s not going to happen until it gets put into the company\'s official documentation.

Wish list / Race change request
« on: April 15, 2004, 08:22:15 am »
Has anybody else noticed the problem with the Kran race? Maybe people from other nations wouldn\'t be so quick to notice, but I live in the USA, and I have a real problem with a race of tall, pale-colored, pointy-headed creatures called the Kran. For reference, take a look here: http:// http://www.kraxton.com/images/oxford.jpg .

I am seriously recommending to the developers that we change the name of this race to something else; preferrably something that does not begin with the letter \"K.\" Here are a few of my own suggestions (feel free to suggest some of your own):

*Dolomite
*Granidian
*Slagg

Heh...I almost suggested \"Bouldarian,\" but that sounds and looks too much like \"bold aryan.\"

Name: Phanx
Race: Kran

Personality: Phanx is as dumb as a brick with a childlike innocence; easily duped and quick to forgive. He (deferring to the male pronoun) is extremely loyal to his friends, and he is quick to help any creature he sees being unjustly harmed.

Strengths: Phanx has the usual strengths of the Kran race.

Weaknesses: Phanx has an unusually high craving for rubies, which he will gobble up at any given opportunity.

Weapon: Kran is a pacifist, and only believes in empty-handed fighting.  He is a skilled martial artist.

Background: Kran left his homeland in search of enlightenment, joined The Brotherhood of the Holy Crystal, and is serving all other sentient beings while residing chiefly in Hydlaa.

Well, I was online and was an eyewitness to the \"theft\" of the unattended crystal ring around the statue\'s head. If you find the player of an Enkidukai character named Ratfink, you\'ll find the thief.
