Incredible good ideas from cmhitman!

this is a thread where i repost my best contributions to ps! (however little that may be). Don\'t be alarmed, much of my gibberish is error ridden and totaly undissernable.

 
My two cents
Well I wanted pvp and was disappointed when all the devs turned out to be rpg pussies, but now I\'ve realized it could be just as fun to duel in an arena against other players, that is.... if you guys do it right.
I think that if you guys make a players current status in the game affect how good he plays in the arena then we\'ll have problems but if you guys some how make the arena battles unreliant on a persons status in the story mode ur whatever you wanna call it then you guys might be able to make a fun arena mode. make this a real battle system and not just a leveler massacre. for example in and fps there are people who are good, they just can shoot good and have good mouse clicking reflexes and eye coordination (like me!  ) people need to learn how to be good fighters then there are those of us who [200 posts here i come!] were born good (like Me!). This and not a player \"status\" should be factored into the game because it is an intricate and complex skill that is gathered and perfected over time. in short arena battles should be based on learned tactics and \"real\" skill, not earned points stored on the games server that kinda mix with real skill but really just make for unfair play.

Ok, I?ve been thinking very hard on ideas that would speed up development of planeshift while still keeping a good quality to speed ratio. Ok, so this is what I?ve come up with:
Wh don?t you guys add a fundraising, treasury and rewards section to the dev team. See, this part of the team would, in conjunction with the rest of the team (they?d just work out the details, most of witch I already have) raise money, save money and use it to secure a future for plainshift and along with concerning it?s self with the monitary problems posed by a free game, it would be in charge of rewarding members and sections of the team and even maybe contract freelance programmers to do parts of the game that other members might not be able to accomplish. I know you guys swear up and down you don?t want any money but sure a little rewards system would do good to speed up development. Talad should take this into consideration.

I think this would be the end of the peace between the team members. :) As long as every member is granted some money, then there are not problems, but this is not our case, since we\'re not a company. If only someone can have money, then fights and/or envy will start and soon the fair conditions necessary to develop a project like this would be missing. This kind of things happen continuously.

Well for one this game is a RPG and two calling the devs names just makes them ignore your points, be them good or not.

Yeah but i said I already worked out much of the details.
See the rewards would be given to members based on what percentage of a task they get done. ex:
player X finish\'s task of modeling lets say four races,  there will only be 12 races so he gets about $6.55 per model with a maximum of $78 available for the 3d team for completion of all the races. ther are three modelers, each modeler gets four races to complete. Then lets say modeler X is extremely talented and gets done. He can\'t infringe on another modelers task until they go over deadline but Modeler X can do Extra miscellaneous tasks, (e.g plants grass).  

I will explain later gotta go to class....(5th period)

Dude you are WAY off.

In my consulting business, I charge a minimum of $175 an hour for my time.  That means either Talad would have to pay me over a $grand a day to be here, or that $6.55 would just be an insult.

I prefer to just donate my time and think about how I am \"helping humanity\" because all of you will play this game and hopefully other programming teams out there can use some of my code in their own games.

That is legacy enough.

Interesting thoughts cmhitman but i agree with kendaro and boonet on this one.  Name calling won\'t get you anywhere, expecially in a highly RPG enviornment.  Your treasury idea would make this game a hastly done project, producing a half-baked game that wouldn\'t live up to the standards of the people who post here.  The issue of money would also (i think) cause many disputes, that might just dissolve this project and we all don\'t want that now do we?  Remember this entire project is running on the good will of people around the world.  Out of their generosity, they spend time on a project in which their only reward is the fact of doing something for the common good, like Vengeance was saying.

Note: Sorry about my spelling, grammar, and/or sentence structure.  Was never good at writing. :D

PS: Vengeance you earn $175 and HOUR? Geeze man I want your jobs heh.

Yes I do, when I\'m consulting, but I don\'t do that all day every day... hence I have time to work on PS.  :-)

well, i guess it was a thought. But damn venge i didn\'t know you were paid like that.
 
 all the time you had me thinking you were one of   those crackpot programmers who only does it for the love of the code ur some crap, well maybe you are..to some extent....
Anyway i only really called you guys pussies because I knew it would get some attention.
I know you want to do it, for the people but what about the parts of the team that might want money?Even just a little money?
anyway I understand what your talking bout. You\'d probable get major respect points in the MMORPG gaming industry if you complete a project like this.

I think any money donated to the game would probably do more good being saved to buy equipment (server realted) and bandwidth.  At some point when the game is more viable and regular user interaction is needed for testing, the currently donated gamiix server won\'t last.

I would have to agree with kinshadow... Any money aquired(however that may be) should be put towards servers and bandwidth.  besides, as the old saying goes \"If there is nothing to fight for, why fight?\"  besides, when PS ends up with like 10 million active users, think how GOOD that\'ll look on a resume..... :D
