heh it would be VERY cool to have an all-out event of a giant quest...
to have a sort of gm event/ quest where you have to sign up in game with the event organizers (gm or dedicated player) , who would be acting as the ones offering the quest-- lets just say 3 organizers had been taking peoples names..depending on the number interested... it could start in oja & end in bd or vice versa, depending who you 'get the quest from' (sign up in advance with).
I'm thinking it would be something like your typical 'my little pony adventure' (for those that don't know, as it's a bit obscure, that's an improv game where you do the typical movie quest thing of meeting up with people along the way to help complete your goals..)..say one group is told to meet at kada el tavern, another at broken door tavern, and the third group (groups done by which organizer gave them 'quest') lets say meet in dungon silver mine... at meeting spots their organizer gives them the quest details, old scavenger hunt style--
"your first task is easy perhaps you'd mock, but i hear i've a note near grok enok"... gms would be needed for a note impossible to lift... then like "[Organizer name], my situation is dire, you need to save my heart's desire, my betrothed has taken ill, and will not eat and has a chill... What to do i know not yet, for with an alchemist i've not met yet. If you know someone who makes odd bubbly, i need your help I hate to trouble yee. If this fever doesnt' break, i fear from mercy a life i'd take. Please seek some help, and waste NO TIME, this is the end of the note in rhyme -signed Blind"
meanwhile another group would be sent to the same place, told to drop off ingredients on that npc's table and make clear who it's from, from their quest person, who is a greater alchemist than the npc that was hinted to in the above task. as he explains before sending them on the quest... their group is droppin off full inventories of some ingredient to the npc thinking they have to say something when they drop it off, when they wind up meeting the group from first part, who are busy confused about what to tell the npc to save the person who's sick or whatever... hopefully they are wise enough to realize they are supposed to rp the quest more & need to have group 2 lead group 1 to the organizer for group 2 , so they can have to seek out some crazy thing like a siameze ulbernaut heart, but first they will need to obtain piles of dust to distract the siameze ulber when they fight it....
Group 3 was told to get drunk, get to know eachother & live the da like its their last, then dig up all the ores they can get & burn to dust, as they will need it in what may be their final battle--at both furnaces... yea i'm just tired of trying to type all this especially as it's all basic concept stuff, i would hope others could come up with far better than this sketchy outline of an idea.. anyway when they seek out the doubleulber, it should be gm controlled, magic disabled, and kill a bunch.. dead ones are out of the quest... then howvwe many loot the hearts or pick them up or whatever take them to the organizer of group 2, he could then ask for some useless quest items people tend to hang onto forever that gms could check inventories for in advance like say amulet or such..... then give them unique potion's components # 1 thru whoevr survives the siamese ulber's #s... they need to seek out organizer of gropu 1 to find out the location of Blind.. he or she thanks the group immensely & tells them the first (half of the groups #) who are noble & honourable to their comrades to reach the temple well will recieve a reward. Instead give the half who stayed, or arrive there last a reward thats simple & not so useful, but still neat & unique. like a pair of rings that raise charisma 2 points each (i say a pair so if they decide to share with the greedy runners they still get a cool ring themself)...
now that i think of it a ring should raise char by 1 point anyway....
anyhow, just my long crazy thoughts upon what i read.. pardon my outburst of words.
