Cannot connect to server

ok i just downloaded the planeshift 3.19 what ever.....but as it was downloading it said that it was the "tech-demo". what is the tech-demo? i wanted the real thing. anyway i installed it and i registered and i tried to make a character and the only 1 i was allowed to make was a human male(i forgot the race name ) and also i was only allowed to change the hair color and somthin else. when i was all done making the character, i press log in (or whatever it was) and it says server is down and the game turned off. i tried to get back on again but when i tried to login it said server is down. whats with all this?

PlaneShift is a game in open development, so it's not complete. The "Tech-Demo" line is to show that it's still a work in progress.

The server seems to have been jumpy lately due to the new release - they always carry a few bugs with them that we then have to smooth over. So if it's crashing every now and then, sit tight and wait for it to stabilize.

I'd like to know why it wouldn't let you create anything aside the Ylian male. Can you describe the problem in greater detail?

Karyuu, i think I remember the problem he's having from my original very first character creation: my memory could be fuzzy but i think it's just a matter of not realizing you need to hit on that bit where it gives info about the race before you can click the other race names
