The wipes are welcome to me not because I wish to have everyone at the same level. This will never be the case, as people always join way after any wipe. High level players also leave, and the PLs are back to their usual power within just a few weeks. It's been like that after every wipe.
Also, the wipe doesn't enforce creation of different or "better" characters. Not in the RP sense. In fact, if you RP properly, then you will not change your character at all in response to a wipe. There was no wipe IC-ly, so any change to a character in response to a wipe would be OOC and thus invalid.
The wipe will also have a problem for RP. I have always tried to match my stats towards what I RP. It makes sense to do that in case use of the stats happens to help RP, which is the case in a few, scarce, situations. However, I don't enjoy the levelling part, and therefore a wipe, for me, will mean that the balance I have approximately attained twice already, will be lost once more for an extended period of time, since I am not going to waste days grinding just to achieve that balance. I'd rather be RPing. And no, RPing that I somehow lost my skills and abilities is not RP, it's OOC.
Be assured that I am nowhere near "high level". At best, I'm at the low end of medium level, and I have seen quite several PLs who went from zero to "may be impossible to defeat" within just a few days.
Adding to that, it means that I'll have to reenter my description.
The only reason why I welcome the wipe is that there have been severe imbalances in the loot system, followed by bugged items and that the item wipe and the later removal of the bugged items (the ones that were found) didn't cover the extra stats gained by exploiting these. All of this is, of course, to be expected in the development stage PS is in ATM.
I, too, once mistakingly thought that regular wipes might stop PL. However, they don't, unless they happen on a weekly basis, which would clearly make having stats at all pointless.
You can always delete a char that you don't like anymore, and create a new one instead, not to mention that you already have the option to have not one, but four individual chars, and that is only per account.
This way, you could easily delete and recreate your char to change the fur color, even now, but you knew that already.
