Well, just a thought: you have a 1.8 GHZ processor (mine's a 3.2 GHZ and still has a small lag, I can imagine your lag.) You have 512 MB ram (I understand that it's a laptop, but still, a lot of recent things have started mandating 1GB or more) You have an ATI RADEON Xpress 200M which is not a bad graphics card, but I looked it up, and there have been many people having framerate and resolution problems, and reporting slow speeds. And lastly, your choice of linux. Seems Ubuntu's popular, yet so many people have had issues with it

. Anyways, Ubuntu never ran my Planeshift as well as others did, even on Gentoo and Red Hat it ran better. I would say that whatever part of this "menu" is lagging is because of everything you posted. That may sound a little vague, but there's nothing more to say. I would try it on Windows, if it runs fine there, try it on a different Linux distro. If it doesn't lag there, you know it's Ubuntu that's the problem, if it still lags, try upgrading. even an additional 256MB ram stick will help. One thing that helps alot is the mhz of your ram, obviously there's a big difference between a 32mhz stick and a 600mhz, and is it DDR1, 2, or 3 (highly doubt you got a new DDR 3 in there though

)? Shouldn't be too expensive of an upgrade, 50$ - 100$ should do it. Hope this helps.
