Are you guys still on development, cause I thought you were past that and onto testing.

Is there a difference? Testing shows bugs. And bugs means we have to develop some solution.

Greetings,

Actually, there is a difference by popular perception:
in a commercial development process, there will be a freeze at the end of development of the current release (i.e., once all important features have been implemented). Testing will focus solely on fixing bugs, nothing new (in terms of features) will be added. Just what MB is.
However, if the codebase of CB is what is going to be expanded (not redone, as with MB->CB), there is not going to be a real freeze to CB. Addition of new features (at least major ones) will be slower immediately before the release, but testing will probably not be considered finished when it\'s being released, and bugs will be fixed after the release and new features will be added. So the distinction will be blurred in PS IMO.

It\'s very hard to draw the line between features and bugs.  I\'d say that completely new features are pretty well frozen out now but existing ones are being refined and debugged. And remember, developers consistantly underestimate the time to release by large factors :)

Hey if we didn\'t always underestimate the effort it would take, we never would have started PS in the first place.  ;-)

lol, well put Vengeance :P

And I see what you mean Seytra but, if the distinction is so blurred then why not fall back to the basic definitions and so agree that testing and development are as Jorrit put it :P

People stop questioning my questions.
The question is, to the devs and it is asking if they have already finished adding new bits to the game and are just trying to polish the curent features.
My god, if we just keep going in circles like this then we\'ll never get anything done. :)

It\'s like I always say, we, the fans are team 1 and we are fighting agains team 2 (the devs) for dominance over the project. Its like this with all game and hardware developement. Currently, because we are flaming each other, and overlapping each other\'s questions and opinions we are losing the battle and team numero 2 have us where they want us.  If we want these games to be what we want we have to take control, otherwise it\'ll end up like many other games that screwed up, for example Fable (for X-box) and BW1 for PC. I have been following these two games and they were both developed by the same guys and because the fans didn\'t take control they lost. These games while fun were not what they were meant to be at the start of developement. Actually Fable hasn\'t been released yet, but it will be soon and everyone already knows what is wrong with THAT game.

They have already answerd, and the answer is yes. They are still adding new features, as new features will be added forever, and they are fixing those features so they can be used in game. More than just fixing bugs, there is adding actual content- most people don\'t realise the extra stuff they downloaded with MB that could have been used in an upgrade.

The only promise they broke was the december deadline... and since that they will never have a release date ever. In fact, I think it was stated \"we are hoping for...\". Did make me sad tho :(

1) they can\'t be adding in new concepts for CB once they\'ve started testing it for bugs. Why on earth would you add new stuff during testing. You would only fix areas that need fixing.
2) That last line in my old post was not refering to Planeshift, but another game.

Well, there is a thing called \'feature creep\'.  Where you never stop adding new things in. It\'s very hard in a project to actually draw the line at something and say \'no more\'.  It is even harder in a project like this where people work on what they want.  We have tried very hard to set realistic goals but as we go on we move those goals a little bit when we realize some things are easier to do and others are harder to do.  Plus, now that we have started with team testing they are finding a host of new problems and features that are pretty important.

I think you all misunderstood Ajdaha...
Except maybe Acraig...
(proverbial stab in the dark here)
Adjdaha correct me if I am wrong, but you wanted to know, had the devs included all the content intended for the first CB release, not PS as a whole right?
Until acraig no one had answered that.
The just flamed you for a logical question.
Well thanks to acraig you have your answer.
The devs are as eager as any of us it seems, they want CB to be a huge success.
