the idea had been around a while, poping up briefly in council meetings..

however after phiny\'s idea got proposed we started thinking aobut it more seriously

Long before Phinehas proposed the idea the basic coding was in... we where just lazy and really didnt care about it... Phinehas pushed us a little bit....

and as for the ao being low... what about you guys.. your ripping us of.

Glad to see some stuff happening around here. Its about time that AO got some concurrence. Lots of people think theyve become too snobbish lately and I partially agree.
About ripping AO off, Phinehas\' organisation was not a rip off until you guys decided to make a public forum. I dont see whats wrong with this conflict. AO\'s monopoly on magic is threatened and will probably force them to think about their reputation so they dont lose members to Phinehas.

Now most AO members seem to be afraid of a conflict and try to come with good and peaceful explanations. Its obvious that you opened the new forum as a response to the new organisation, so you should expect consequences, as the wise mages you are...

And anyway, why decide if it\'s a ripoff or not? Let time show what happens. If lots of people decide to join this new organisation then maybe it was a good ripoff...

When you think about it, a lot of ideas that are called \"stolen\" aren\'t really new, they\'re recycled to begin with.  Is there some method by which the stories/books on the Arcaeneum forums are transfered to the main page?  \"Ripoff\" Guilds are allowed, you know.
edit: ...and organizations, how did I miss that?

Regardless, now that I know of it\'s existance, I have one more forum to visit.  

[OT:Ah, yes, and the bit on azure glyphs has a bunch of pictures that are linkdead.]

To an extent the real rip-off wasn\'t ours, what do you think forced them to make their library open if it wasn\'t the threat of ours?  As he said, the idea had been there for a long time, but hadn\'t been acted upon.  Enough said there.

The Arcane Order is a guild.  The Athenaeum of Magic will be an organization.  There is a big difference there.  Now forgive me for saying this, but exactly when was it stated that the AO will and should have a monopoly over the Arcane Arts?

Monketh, exactly how is this a rip-off?  The AO is a guild.  There is a fine line between what we are doing and creating a guild.  As you will soon see, it will not just be a library, as some of our misinformed friends here believe.

What you guys should know is that you don\'t know exactly what this will be, do you?  Part of it is a library, but that is just part.  Speculation and accusing this as being a rip-off isn\'t going to get you anywhere until you know more about us, which isn\'t going to happen until we decide to make the whole thing public.

The forum is where everything will be submitted through, we will have librarians with editing permissions for the main page who will upload it when it is finished or when the author wants them to.  

About the images, I know, it\'s the damned ewiki which is trying to cache the images in its own database.

And, I want to ask everyone to stop spamming the Arcane Order thread, as this is not an Athenaeum of Magic thread.  Also, if all you will do is call us rip-offs when our thread emerges, don\'t bother to post there.

Edit:  Xordan, you can only now be a member of the forum, the forum user database is all we will be using, and you aren\'t a member of the forum.

Evidently my quotation marks were misunderstood.  The intended concept was that the group is accused of being a \"ripoff\", not that it is one.

Did you even read that book? SnowWolf wrote that himself almost a year ago, it\'s nothing like the descriptions in rpgrules.xml at all, whereas your version is exactly the same. If you can\'t see the difference here, just stop discussing already.

The idea of having something for the general public was in the AO Council forums right after we went invite-only, since invite-only means you can\'t just go mass-recruiting, we needed another way of keeping newbies close to us

However, than the council got into a fight, several members left, and the whole thing became low-priorit untill after we got the whole guild sorted out again

We\'ve had public forums from day UNO!

And our library isnt a set of forums.  They were compleatly coded by ourselves and are not just a collection of scripts we uploaded.

Besides, all we did was announce we had a new section, and you started yelling at us, now don\'t go play the Victim here.
