We don\'t have a monopoly on mages...Need I mention that many, many, many guilds have Magic departments?
Also, the AO and the MA are fundamentally different. MA being an organization and AO being a guild, there is no reason why, for example, a person cannot be a member of both.
As for us being snobs...Why is it that I hear this so often? Because we\'re invite-only? The newly-implemented system allowing guests to sign the guestbook and create an account will be used for people wishing to join. Anyone can sign up. Or maybe it\'s because we don\'t jump into every offer of alliance made to us? I am sure you are all smart enough to understand that an alliance is a heavy oath to take. Or maybe because we believe the way and reason we practice magic to be superior to others? I wish to clear this up; there have been many misinterpretations to this. It does not a comment on our level of skill in spellcasting, but our ethics of spellcasting. While others might pursue the Arcane Arts to add a \"magic muscle\" in their fighting, or indeed for any other advantage, we research magic for the sake of it. Our goal is to fully understand magic in Yliakum and perhaps even on other planes of existence. We believe this to be a pure and superior approach to magic; but that is just what we believe. Different churches have different approaches to the same religions; we have a different approach to magic. Obviously if we did not think it superior, we would not follow it.
Of course, there might be some other reason we are deemed snobs, and I for one would be eager to hear what the community has to say; please do point out to us where you percieve us snobbing something or other, there\'s no need to beat around the bush and make abstract comments about snobbery. We need to know what you think we\'re doing wrong before we fix it.
I also have a few comments which I wish to make about the MA, but I will post those in the relevant thread later.
