Edo's Guide To HTML
« on: September 26, 2004, 04:28:52 am »
HTML is very useful if you plan on making a guild site, so i figured, why not make a tutorial about? but then i realized, I DIDN\'T KNOW HTML EITHER! So, i did a simple search on yahoo and found a great tutorial, but ill post the basics here anyway. (You may notice that some of these are similar to BBCoding, but the []s are replaced with <>.)

To add a(n)...
link to a web page = url here\">Click Text
link for an email = mailto:email here\"click text
image = img url here\">
image/link =  url here\">img url here\">

To change the text

italic=text here
bold=text here
underline=text here
Teletype(fixed width) = text here
Adjust size = text here but be sure to change the \"X\" to a number 1-6, 1 being the biggest size
add bulleting =

  • first item
  • second item
  • third item

    add numbering =

    1. item one
    2. item two
    3. item three

    well, thats all you will need to make a simple text document, but if you want to learn more go to this great tutorial that i used

The key to manipulative bargaining is to ask for something twice as big as what you want, then smile and nod when you are talked down to your original wish. You are still young, my apprentice, and have much to learn in the ways of the force. -UtM

Nice try at making a guide but next time why dont you stick to somthing you can go into a little more detail in.  Remember, you\'re learning html yourself. But, anyways, good job :)

oO thats a good one too.

Efflixi- it would be easier for me if the forum allowed the use of HTML in posts, but it does. if it did, i would have gone into greater detail, with better examples. but ty anyway

edit: now that i know html, im gonna make the guild site on freewebs, so i can edit it using html. mainly because everyone was saying that we shouldn\'t use tripod, and i like how the ranger\'s guild site is, i might copy some of their ideas. ;)

The best reference out there for HTML, CSS, Javascript, XML, DHTML, Perl (basics) out there is probably http://www.selfhtml.org/
It covers even browser compatibility issues and is available in many languages, unfortunately not in English (still :()

However if you speak either French, German, Japanese or Spanish it\'s imho the way to go. :)
The internet is "the terrorists'" most important weapon, they say.
Wrong.
Fear is their most important weapon.
Ours is our freedom.
