Training Academy
« on: October 09, 2004, 09:28:29 pm »
hmm... what about you make a training academy for weak players to gain some skill?!

like when you then enter the academy you can talk to a  NPC trainer that will then make you do something like shooting 5 arrows right in the head on some practice dummy and then you gain some skill...

and eventually the trainer is going to challenge you in either shooting wirh a bow or fighting with a sword and if you defeat him then there is nothing more he can teach you

and then you can also make your own academy to train some people for money.

but of course it can be to much training for weak players and then they just spend their first days in ylakium in some academy trying to be as good as the more experienced players. but then of course the NPC tells you that the best way to get some skill is by killing some monsters even if that is not true or is it?

i hope you like my idea!?

Well, I have seen this in so many games already, NPC tutorials are just plain boring. I think it would be better if the new players would turn to a more experienced player or a guild for help earley on. And that would also be a way for the guilds to bolster their ranks.

Regarding charging the newbie characters for training... Well I just don\'t think a newborn character has enough money for the trainer to make a profit.

yes maybe they would not have enough money to come into an academy that a player has created but then there would also be NPC academys that doesnt need money and the player created academys you are also turning to a more experienced player like you said would be better... or a guild academy where you are training to get into that guild

and for the part you call boring... i was thinking of making the training a little more active like figthing the instructor or fighting a small monster or something... just so that they dont walk out in the world with no experience at all...

just make the training with more action and less talking... that way i dont hope it gets boring

You mean like City-paid \"Public-Schools\"?

But a \"Training Academy\" this has been suggested many times before & is in many games...

I really want a tutorial on how to work the game for the new people even before they create a Char.. so there will not be lots of newbie questions like \"how do I change views\" & \"How do I run?\" etc...

CB Characters: Zeph Waterfox & Zeraph Waterfox MB: Zph

I hope the tutorial wouldnt be long and get to the point soon ,so if i make 2 characters i dont have to go through a long tutorial.

ok then what about that...

First: a quick guide trough all the basics of the game with the answer to all these questions like how do i do this and how do i do that, and you can of course skip this guide

then you get into the game...

Second: you can train in one of these \"Puplic\" academies to get a bit of expierence before entering the world outside of hydlaa...

third: you can get into a player created academy to get even more experience than at the first academy, and in this academy you will of course also be trained by a player but for a price....

Now how do you like this idea?.... hope you like it

I remember there being some (quite a few) older threads covering the same topic ...maybe you could get some cool ideas if you\'d search the forums.

You have four chars on each account, this would only apply to new accounts I guess
