It\'s hard to imagine that someone could hack into a company that large long enough to download 3+ gigs!  I must say that even though I was never really a big Halo fan, I am pretty excited about Halo 2.  If I ever get it though, I will buy it.  When I like something enough I am more than willing to spend money on it, like the new Chevelle cd for instance (great CD btw!).

Two things:
   A. Security must be getting the preverbial a** handed to them on this one.
   B. If something is worth having (as more than a trial) it is worth some investment.

This just shows that fanatic people will do damage no matter what they believe in. Whether they believe in God, free software (as in free beer), or opensource, they will all do damage and cause problems.

And it seems like the opensource ones are really starting to show themselves. Part of Windows 2000\'s source, Half Life 2\'s source, and now Halo 2\'s source.

I have copies of [Windows] 3.1, 3.11, 95, and 98, too. Not to mention various versions of MS-DOS

A couple of months ago Mircosoft had an FTP opened containing internal documents, raodmaps and internal company policies with anonymous access. It took them about three hours to \"fix\" that problem, only to let it \"reoccur\" 10 hours later. With MS, a hell of a lot is possible. ;)

I wasn\'t referring to Micrososft.  Yeah, so long as Microsoft uses their own software they are done for (need to use some Linux :P).  I was referring to the developer of Halo 2, being Bungie.  I can\'t imagine Bungie would be able to be cracked open long enough for 3+ gigs to get out.  But then again, you are very small.  (10 points if you can name that movie)

That\'s correct, I think an \"attacker\" can remain hidden for a very long time is he is just small enough, or the system/company big enough.
And the movie was of course LOTR:TTT :)

;It really is a shame that they got ripped off in such a way considering the time/effort/ingenuity that went into it.

To be sure!  As I said, I wasn\'t really a big fan of Halo 1, but looking at screen shots I was thoroughly impressed.  I figured being on the same platform and all that it would have only slightly improved graphics.  Not so!  This is the whole reason I would actually consider spending money on it.

fireofsoul:  Are you sure?  I thought they were just using Microsoft as the distributor like so many game companies are doing (Gas Powered Games (Chris Taylor 0wnz joo 411), whoever made AOE, etc.).

Pogopuschel:10 cool points to you for the quote snag (wow, 10, that was way too many).
